Little Acorns Pre-School
This week Little Acorns have joined the rest of the school with Parliament Week, learning about making group decisions by voting and seeing which option gets the majority of the vote! We voted to decide what colour play dough to make, circles for blue, andtriangles for red. Blue got the majority vote!
We have also been writing and posting postcards of the Houses of Parliament,
and we have made a fantastic model of St Stephen’s Tower (Big Ben). We found out that the clock face is about 7m wide, and
there is a prison inside the tower! In French, we listened to ‘Le Gruff alo’ and
learned the diff erent animal names in French.

Week 3
On the weekend of 15th July, Tilly S was the youngest member of The Fort team in the Portsmouth Relay for
Life. She joined her Nanny’s NHS team to raise money for Cancer Research UK by keeping team members walking round an athletics track for 24 hours to remind everyone
that cancer doesn’t sleep.
The theme was Christmas, and Tilly did an amazing 100 laps (25 miles) and raised over £350.
What an incredible achievement, Tilly, well done!

For Parliament week, Year 1 followed the story of a group of school children who visited the Houses
of Parliament. ey then attempted to retell key parts of the story at the roll of a dice. Finally, they wrote questions
that they would ask if they got to visit Parliament, including Who works in Parliament? Why is Parliament there?
Year 1 had a great time at Search on Tuesday, where they got the opportunity to be real history detectives. ey particularly enjoyed the 1950’s party games and getting dressed up in clothes
from the period.
Year 4 learnt all about voting, rules,
consequences and so on for Parliament Week and then took part in a debate trying
to answer the question: Should we wear school
uniform or not? ey voted using a ballot paper
and a ballot box.
We raised £450.60 for Children in Need!
Our Year 10 Triple Scientists got involved in Parliament Week this week with a debate for, or against stem cell use in medicine. Pupils argued passionately about their beliefs
resulting in quite a heated debate!
In Science, as part of their topic involving studying specific cells, Year 6 designed and made model cells to perform specific jobs. For example, This cell fights infectious diseases.
Year 2 had at a brilliant time on their team-build-ing challenge day
at Rock-Up!
Year 8 had a Parliament Trivia team quiz for #ParliamentWeek this afternoon! #UKPW17
Our EAL (English as an additional language) pupils were tasked with writing a review of their rst half term at Boundary Oak following the summer holidays. For some it has been a new experience, for others it was the rst
term back a er a long summer break. For all it has been a positive experience!
MY FIRST HALF TERM
This half term has been fantastic, I have enjoyed it a lot with my friends and teachers. The things I have enjoyed the most are camping at the beginning of the year and games.
Now after school we do clubs every day. I have really enjoyed clubs because they are so much fun, my favourite is drama with Mrs Plumpton, I love it. All my clubs are amazing but in the next half term I won’t be doing tennis, so that means that I must choose a new club.
My favourite subjects at school are Games and PE because I love sport, we have been doing hockey. We will fi nish hockey in the next half term and we will start doing netball, I love netball.
The best thing for me at BOUNDARY OAK is boarding, it is so much fun, I love it. I share a room with my friends and it is so good. Mrs Plumpton is the best house mummy. At the weekend only some boarders stay and it is very good fun too, we always play and go out.
THIS SCHOOL IS THE BEST!
Laura M, Y9
So far, this term has been very exciting and hard. We had the options evening. It was very exciting because it’s helped me with my GCSE choices. Also, there are new students in our school. On my fi rst day, I had a new timetable. My fi rst lesson was maths and after that we had English and history.
My favourite subjects are maths and EAL. I really like solving different equations. In English, I like writing PEE paragraphs and reading poems. I think they are the most exciting lessons in school for me. In science, we have been doing a lot of experiments with dangerous acids and liquids. We usually have 3 science lessons every week. In history, we have just done WW1. I’m fascinated by WW1 because my country was involved and it’s very interesting as well.
For school activities, we have been doing a lot of different sports and science clubs. My favourite club is dodgeball because it’s very funny and sporty. The best part of dodgeball is that it was the fi rst time I had played. It was very exciting.
I’ve enjoyed science lessons because we have done a lot of experiments and writing about interesting things. I’ve enjoyed EAL the most because we have done a lot of enjoyable things. I have enjoyed history because it’s my favourite lesson. Now we are going through WW1 It’s very exciting and fun. I’ve made some new friends as well. They are from different countries, one from Uzbekistan one from Kazakhstan and another from Russia so I have a lot of friends from England so far as we. So far it has been very good and enjoyable term for me.

My fi rst ½ term at Boundary Oak School
This is my fi rst half term in England, and I have been studying at Boundary Oak School and I’ve had great fun. I have made a lot of friends too.
During my fi rst week, we had a camping residential. We had a lot of activities and I could talk to my friends who shared the tent with me. On the second day, we had a lot of team-building games and we came fi rst. That was really good fun.
After that week, it was time to have lessons. We have done a lot of experiments during Science to learn about the elements and energy, which was really good. In PE, we have learnt many swimming strokes. I have learnt a lot about angles and factors in Maths and I have enjoyed it.
I have joined a lot of afterschool clubs too. I like cooking club most, and I have made a lot of delicious biscuits and tasty dishes. I have enjoyed chess club too.
At night, we can watch movies sometimes, I have seen Harry Potter and The Beauty and the Beast. I’ve enjoyed watching movies very much. At the weekend, I went to Whiteley to buy something with my friends in the boarding house. I have made a lot of friends at this school so far.
So far, so good!
