About the Connecticut Hydrogen - Fuel Cell Coalition
Objectives:
Mission:
• Tocreatepublicawarenesswithindustry,academia,andgovernmentregardingthebenefitsandusesoffuelcellandhydrogentechnologiestoreducetransmissioncongestion,reduceemissionsofcontrolledpollutantsandglobalwarminggases,increasefueluseefficiency,reducedependenceonimportedenergy,andsustainandincreaseConnecticutemployment.
• Tofacilitateidentification,communication,andmanagementofkeyinformationamongusers,manufacturers,infrastructuremanagers,andthesupplychainentitiesassociatedwithfuelcellandhydrogentechnology.
• TostrengthenConnecticut’sfuelcellandhydrogenindustrythroughacademicandgovernmentinvolvement.
• Toprovideaforumfordiscussingcommonissuesandfordevelopingjointprojects.
• Tobethestaterecognizedleaderforeconomicdevelopmentinthehydrogenandfuelcellsectorthroughcollaborationtorespondtothechallengesofcompetingstatesandcountries.
ToenhanceeconomicgrowthinConnecticutthroughthedevelopment,manufacture,anddeploymentoffuelcellandhydrogentechnologiesandassociatedfuelingsystems.

• Connecticut’shydrogenfuelcellcompaniesdirectlyemployapproximately1,000high‐techworkers.
• AlthoughConnecticutlostdirectemployeesin2014,itisexpectedthatthesejobswillberecoveredandsurpassedwithincreasedmanufacturingandproduction.
• Connecticut’shydrogenfuelcellcompaniesemployapproximately28%ofthetotalU.S.workforceinthisindustryandapproximately8%ofthetotalglobalworkforceinthisindustry.
• Connecticut’shydrogenfuelcellcompaniesandOEMswereawardedover$300millioninfederalgrantsandcontractsinthelast5years.

The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. administers the Connecticut Hydrogen Fuel Cell Coalition with funding and support from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. The CHFCC also receives support from its members and other state and federal agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Small Business Administration, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and the Connecticut Green Bank.
