Purpose Hypothesis Materials Procedure Observation Conclusion Big Idea
Purpose
To investigate which material (foil, plastic bag, newspaper and woolen socks)can hold the heat longest.
Hypothesis
I think the newspaper is the best insulator.
I think the silver foil is the 2nd best insulator.
I think the plastic bag is the worst insulator.
Materials
4 bottles Woolen socksNewspaperAluminum FoilPlastic bagThermometer Hot waterTape
Procedure
1. Get ready 4 bottles , a thermometer, foil, plastic bag, newspaper and woolen socks.
2. Wrap the materials around the 4 bottles with tape.3. Pour hot water into the bottles.4. Put the thermometer into the bottles.5. Check the temperature after 5 minutes.6. Check the temperature after 10 minutes.7. Check the temperature after 15 minutes.
Results and Observations
This is a picture of the 4 bottles wrap around with the 4 materials.
This is the thermometer inside the bottle and checking the temperature.

Conclusion
In this experiment, I observe that each materials temperature is different after every minute. My hypothesis was right cause’ the newspaper was the best insulator, and the plastic bag was the worst insulator.
Big Idea
1. Since the newspaper is the best insulator it can hold the heat the longest.
2. I have learned that different types of material can have different type of temperature.
3. I learned that if you want to keep the heat you must use thicker and darker materials.
4. I learned that not every type of material can keep heat from getting away.
Thank You !!!!
