What is the difference between a degree awarding institution and a mobility partner? Degree awarding institutions are entitled to award the Joint Degree. Mobility partners do not award the Joint Degree. The ECTS credits gained will be counted towards the award of the Joint Degree at the student’s entrance university.

Program Structure The program consists of 90 ECTS taught
credits and 30 ECTS for the thesis. You will take compulsory credits in linguistics,
literary studies and cultural studies (10-12 ECTS each) as well as in English
language proficiency (8-12 ECTS).
Entry Requirements 1. To be admitted to the program, you must have
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent of at least 180 ECTS in English and American Studies or in another area relevant to the program, e.g. modern and classical languages.
2. Proof of your competence in English in the form of a recognised language certificate (e.g., Cambridge CAE, Michigan ECPE, Trinity ISE 3, Pearson PTE Academic, IELTS, TOEFL iBT).
Application and Admission After you have successfully submitted your application, the academic coordinators of the partner universities will select those applicants who fulfil the selection criteria and will then be admitted to the program. You will be informed about the results of the selection and admission process by the academic coordinator at the entrance university.
