Conventions of a Digipak

Jesse Hammond

What is a digipak?A digipak is a patented style of a CD

packaging. The front and back panels are the main ‘promoters’ of the CD and are very

much used to attract and captivate the customers; the front of Digipaks tend to have a large eye-catching picture on them.

Inside the pack itself there is more information and possibly more artwork to do with the disc. Extra information provided within the packaging would include song lyrics, artist information and personal

messages.

The inside of the DigiPak is used more for information and extra bits to do with the artist/song/album. The theme of the

inside packaging normally is more subtle compared to the outside packaging. The cardboard/paper folds around the

plastic case which secures the disc in place. The inside of the DigiPak is used more for information and extra bits to do with the artist/song/album. You can also find inside the pack itself more information and possibly more artwork to do with the disc. Extra information

provided within the packaging would include song lyrics, artist information and personal messages. In this case, the digipak

includes a lyric book with each page having a different photo in the same style with the lyrics printed on top in the same font

as the front and back cover

CD keeps within the same colour theme as front cover, using the bold yellowness. At the bottom of the CD, there is the record label’s logo – Lewis Watson is signed by one of the three biggest music labels even though he isn’t as famous as

someone like Ed Sheeran.
