Tourism is one of the fastest growing economic sectors of the country and by 1995 became the largest foreign exchange earner. Since 1999, tourism earns more foreign exchange than bananas, pineapples and coffee exports combined. The tourism boom began in 1987 and in year 2015, a historical record of 2.66 million foreign tourist visited the country.

Costa Rica - White Water RaftingRafting and white water rafting are recreational outdoor activities which use an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other body of water. This is often done on white water or different degrees of rough water, and generally represents a new and challenging environment for participants. Cocos Island was declared a Costa Rican National Park by means of Executive Decree in 1978 . Cocos Island National Park was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Cocos Island was named one of the best 10 scuba diving spots in the world by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and a "must do" according to diving experts. The only persons allowed to live on Cocos Island are Costa Rican Park Rangers, who have established two encampments, including one at English Bay. Tourists and ship crew members are allowed ashore only with permission of island rangers, and are not permitted to camp, stay overnight or collect any flora, fauna or minerals from the island.

Scuba diving is a mode of underwater diving in which a scuba diver uses a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (Scuba) to breathe underwater.

The Arenal is perhaps the most famous of all Costa Rica’s volcanoes. This is because it was until recently the most active volcano in the country, spewing hot gases and steam on a regular basis. All of this stopped in December 2010. Thought to have a ‘perfect’ volcanic cone, the Arenal is indeed a sight to see as it sits towering amidst the surrounding landscape of the Arenal National Park.

When to visit Costa Rica

The best travelling time to Costa Rica is late November through April.. If you are looking for great weather, you are almost guaranteed sunny skies and rain-free days. However, this is also high tourism season so plan accordingly.

Tortuguero National ParkTortuguero National Park is a truly wild place, a must-see for the Costa Rica adventurer. Important information on Entry & Departure

Don't need a Visa to enter Costa Rica and don't need vaccines of any sorts specifically for Costa Rica. Costa Rican Currency  is Called Colon(es). Normally 1 USD is approximately equal to 500 CRC. The best place to exchange money is at the bank in Costa Rica. Do not do it at the airport, they will give you a horrible rate and do not do it with people on the street they most likely have counterfeit money.
