Four Interrelated Components of the ASCA Model

1. Foundation

The foundation is based on the school’s goals for student achievement and the school mission statement.

Zachary High School Mission Statement

To ensure each student a safe environment that fosters academic excellence, self-worth, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Zachary High School’s Counseling Mission Statement

To provide a comprehensive, systematic, data-driven program which fosters academic excellence, self-worth, and a commitment to lifelong learning. The developmental program promotes the personal, social, and career growth of all students in a diverse, safe environment.

2. Delivery systemDescribes activities, interaction, and methods necessary to deliver the guidance program.

3. Management SystemCounselors serve as managers based on school needs.

4. Accountability

Demonstrate effectiveness of school counseling in measurable terms.

The school counseling program is an integral component of the academic school mission.

The school counseling program provides for every student to have access to school counselors.

The school counseling program identifies knowledge and skills that students should acquire.

The school counseling program is comprehensive in design and is delivered systematically to all students.
