Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) UpdatePURPOSE: To provide education and guidance around the issues which

could lead to potential spread in an extremely vulnerable population

● The HOT team (Homeless Outreach Team) is in the very formative stages● HOT will be responding to the issues relating to the pandemic which surround social

distancing and group gatherings which exceed recommendations or orders● TEAM: one police officer and one fire fighter will be directly interacting with the

shelters and social service agencies to provide key assistance during this emergency● In the future, the team would ideally become more robust by adding both a social

worker partner and mental health component ● This team will present data based on interactions , complaint responses and make

recommendations on actionable items which will create positive changes 6

Experience Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Chamber and The Right Place, Inc. convened the coalition aimed at making critical information more accessible to all area businesses and their employees. Coalition members include Grand Rapids Chamber, the Right Place, Inc., Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (West MI), City of Grand Rapids, Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc., Experience Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Area Black Businesses, Start Garden, Local First, Grand Rapids Urban League, Kent County, National Business League, Inc., West Michigan Hispanic Chamber, Linc Up, and West Michigan Works!, and various private sector partners.
