Covid-19 Compliance Officer
• The role of the C-19 compliance officer is a new role as a
result of the Corona virus pandemic.
• C-19 Compliance Officers should be clearly identifiable onsite
with a distinguishable high viz vest, with C-19 Compliance
Officers identifiable on them, similar to the illustration
provided.
• Communicate to site personnel who their C-19 compliance
officers are.
• A C-19 Compliance Officer can be called many different
names e.g. C-19 Marshall or Champion, but the role and
duties remain the same.

What is the role of a C-19 compliance officer?
• Selection of C-19 Compliance Officers.
• It is important as a C-19 Compliance Officer that you are
approachable.
• Must be able to make decisions.
• You are identified as a site point of contact regarding
information relating to all aspects of the Corona virus controls
for the project.
• Their role is supported by all site management and operatives.

What is the role of a C-19 compliance officer?
• There may be a need for more than one Covid-19
Officer depending on the size, environment and
type of works task on the site.
• Where there is multiple Covid-19 Compliance
officers a lead Officer must be appointed for all
Officers to feed information back to.
• The Lead Officer must co-ordinate all Officers on
site.

What are my Duties as a C-19 Compliance Officer?
C-19 Compliance Officer’s responsibilities and
duties fall broadly into 2 categories:
• Proactive day to day duties
• Reactive emergency duties

Proactive day to day duties
Read and understand the site Covid-19 Project Plan.
The Covid-19 site plan is developed in line with the
CIF and HSE guidelines.
Ensure the plan is being followed on site and report
to site management where there are concerns or
issues.

What is the role of a C-19 compliance officer?
• The role of a C-19 Compliance Officer is to monitor the day to
day site activities to ensure social distancing is being maintained
on site.
• Site personnel must carry out their work activities while also
maintaining 2m social distancing and complying to C-19 site
procedures and protocols to eliminate and reduce transmission
points.
• C-19 Compliance Officers are acting in the best interest of
everyone's health by helping to prevent and reduce the spread of
COVID -19.

C-19 Questionnaire?
• All personnel entering site must complete a
Questionnaire and issue it to site management before
coming to attend site.
• The C-19 will be involved in this process and will have
access to C-19 information as required.
• All C-19 information will be protected on site and will be
kept in a secure location on site under the data
protection act.
• Persons on site may be asked at any point in time to
completed a Questionnaire.
What are my Duties as a C-19 Compliance Officer?
Proactive day to day duties
Keep logs of regular monitoring of COVID-19 controls on site.
Ensure there is sufficient up to date signage erected onsite to educate all
personnel about the Covid-19 controls on site. Refer to the CIF website for
continual updated signage.
At all times promote and coach good hygiene practises to all personnel
onsite.
Ensure regular cleaning of welfare facilities, handrails, door handles, etc. is
carried onsite.
Ensure hand wash liquid/soap and hand sanitisers are replenished as
required.
Complete the week COVID-19 Site inspection checklist.

Entry/ exit to site
Site SecuritySITE ENTRANCE
• Ensure site entry is being managed with social
distancing and elimination of transmission points
in mind.
• Report to site management if you find there are
any issues or concerns which are hindering
social distancing or elimination of transmission
points.
• Observe behaviours of personnel on site and
report to management any persons who are not
co-operating.
• Site management will follow up on any
disciplinary actions required.

Site Canteens
Ensure site personnel are adhering
to staggered break time schedules
and limiting numbers in canteens,
drying rooms and smoking areas, at
all times adhering to the 2-metre
social distancing guideline.
Additional site management staff
may need to schedule a rota for
supervision of welfare facilities
during break times.
Ensure Canteen facilities are kept
clean after each use.
All tables must be left clear.
Ensure site personnel leaving site at
designated breaks remove their site
PPE and continue to adhere to social
distancing guidelines.
Toilets & Hand wash station
• Ensure social distancing protocols are being
followed.
• Ensure hand wash signage, soap hand paper
towels and water stock is maintained.
• Ensure all facilities are being cleaned and
disinfected regularly by cleaning staff.
• Report to management any issues for their
attention to be addressed.

Ensure hand was and hand sanitizer step by step
guides signs are posted at every station.
Site activities and Social distancing
• All site operatives must take
responsibility for their own
health and social distancing.
• Where you observe operatives
carrying out a task and
struggling to maintain the 2m
social distancing rule, STOP
the activity and coach them
through the task self
assessment guidelines to find a
better answer.
• Where a answer cannot be
found, inform site management
for task re-assessment.

What are preventative measures?
Where persons are required to work within 2m
of each other Preventative measures are to be
use.
These include:
Persons must be well and without covid-19
symptoms to work <2m of each other.
Face mask PP2 or PP3 or a surgical mask must
be worn. Dispose of masks in the bin after use.
Safety glasses which must be cleaned with
disinfectant afterwards.
Gloves. Latex gloves can be worn over work
gloves. If not work gloves must be disposed of
after task is complete.
Wipe all transmission surfaces with disinfectant
before task commences.
Wipe all transmission points after task is
complete.
Wash hands before and after task.
It is advised that you remove your clothes when
home and wash each evening to eliminate
transmission of the virus if on your clothes.

Recommend PPE for Medical Staff
• Operatives must document
control measures on their
SPA.
• Compliance Officer must
check controls measure are
documented on the SPA.
• Safety must never be
comprised for social
distancing or visa versa.
• If a resolution cannot be found
their supervisor and EHS must
be contacted to investigate.

What are my Duties as a C-19 Compliance Officer?
Reactive emergency duties
Informing site management if there is a suspected/confirmed case or if they have been made aware
of an individual with COVID-19 symptoms.
Isolating an individual with symptoms in an isolation room/segregated area away from other
personnel.
Following site protocol for individuals with COVID-19 symptoms. (i.e. send home, inform them to
contact GP)
Assisting in contact tracing should there be a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Keeping log of site personnel in isolation or restricting their movements.
