CASE STUDIES
WENTWORTH CASTLE
We were appointed by this superb Yorkshire attraction to
publicise a £3.74m Victorian Conservatory restoration project
and drive visitor numbers ahead of the conservatory launch.
Using research on previous visitor numbers, we identified
key markets and built a communications plan to target those
individuals. Using a combination of effective media relations and
concise, engaging storytelling, we introduced the venue to new
audiences and reminded existing patrons of its appeal.
In the first two months of working with Wentworth, we secured
media coverage with a reach of 7.2 million. Our stories were
featured in The Guardian, Politics UK, Family History Magazine,
AOL Money, BBC Look North, Garden News, Sheffield Star,
BBC Radio Sheffield, Yorkshire Post and The Times.
Most importantly, visitor numbers for the January to April
period doubled year on year.

CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES
Cutting Technologies, a successful laser cutting and engraving
business, appointed Cream to help it explore new creative markets.
We devised and delivered a creative multi-disciplinary campaign to
showcase Cutting Technologies’ prestigious work.
We introduced Cutting Technologies to journalists and, in turn,
to new customers. We used a combination of compelling press
releases, photography, film and media interviews to introduce and
re-introduce the company to its stakeholders. We even co managed
a six week laser-cut art exhibition which attracted national attention
and was applauded by Design Week.
Turnover increased 20% during the initial PR campaign period
and Cutting Technologies received coverage in The Guardian,
The Times, BBC News as well as specialist publications such as
Architects Choice and DABS.
Cutting Technologies now has a national profile and one of its
directors is a regular contributor to BBC, ITV and Sky News.
Our award-winning entries have helped Cutting Technologies
clinch a string of business awards. The order book remains
busy and Cream continues to support Cutting Technologies
with all aspects of its PR.

DIGITAL MEDIA CENTRE
Our brief was to position the Centre as a hub for the creative and
digital sector and to better explain the Centre’s purpose among the
wider Barnsley community. In addition we were asked to use PR to
drive new business, both from Barnsley and further afield.
Cream developed two key concepts to keep all communications on
message and focussed. We created and implemented PR to tie with
the centre’s wider business planning and marketing and we’ve now
been working with the DMC for over two years.
Using a carefully planned and well executed combination of
traditional and online PR, supported by social media, we
consistently help the DMC meet its business objectives.
The DMC is attracting new tenants and making headlines.
The centre, home to 42 businesses, is now almost at capacity.
Occupancy has increased by a fifth since Cream was appointed.

TEAM ACTIV
Not for profit sporting organisation, Team Activ, needed a lively
PR agency which shared its vision. We were appointed to build the
Team Activ brand and help it connect and engage with its audiences
including teachers, local authorities, politicians and parents.
We brought Team Activ’s passion for fitness and sport to life
through media interviews, professional photography and video.
We introduced Team Activ to journalists, wrote a suite of award
entries and helped organise fundraising events.
Team Activ’s profile increases daily. Its founder, Darren Padgett,
has been asked to advise government ministers on physical
education policy and in just a couple of years has become a regular
contributor to the BBC. The organisation has won a string of
top awards including a national award organised by The Daily
Telegraph. In five years’ time, Darren plans to work with schools
nationwide and be a national champion for making children fit for life.

ROTHERHAM CSE REPORT
In August 2014 Cream was commissioned to provide independent
PR and media support for Alexis Jay OBE, author of an Independent
Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Rotherham 1997 – 2013.
The brief was simple: to ensure that the findings of the inquiry were
reported correctly, in full and to as wide an audience as possible.
Working strategically and under strict confidentiality agreements,
we organised a national media conference with Prof Jay to launch
the 153 page report. Cream took a strategic approach to ensure
the report’s contents remained under embargo until the media
conference began. Cream’s crisis management specialists worked
closely with Prof Jay in the weeks before the publication to anticipate
and plan media responses. Cream’s entire team was commended by
Prof Jay’s for its high level of professionalism and its determination
to achieve worldwide coverage.
All major UK news channels sent a crew, as did regional news
programmes. The hour-long press conference was broadcast live
on Sky News and the story was trending worldwide on Twitter
before the press conference was over. It was the lead story on both
BBC and ITV’s evening and 10 o’clock news and on C4 News,
Sky News and Newsnight. We acted as advisers on interview bids
from both UK and international media which continued to come
in throughout the night and for a further two and a half weeks.
Almost 10,000 news articles were published on the subject reaching
900 million people worldwide.

Cream understands my business and shares my passion. I attribute
my increased personal profile, and the national profile of Team
Activ, to Cream’s input. I get regular media coverage, including
TV and radio, and I’ve won dozens of awards including one from
the Daily Telegraph. The team has helped me identify how to
package and describe my business, how to raise its profile and as a
result of a vastly increased profile, Team Activ now works with all
secondary schools in Barnsley, half of all the primary schools in
the borough and is extending successfully into West Yorkshire.
