RCREEE… Who we are?

Work in the Pan-Arab Region… know how to navigate your way

Knowledge Partnership Replicability Leadership

3

RCREEE’s Mission

“We, the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, are the strategic partner for

the Arab countries driving energy transition for the prosperity of all our people”

4

Quality Standardization of RE-EE ProductsSolar Heating Arab Mark & Certification Initiative (SHAMCI)

Start: The Executive office of the Arab ministerial electricity council raised arequest to RCREEE and AIDMO to work on standardization and certificationprogram for SWHs aiming to achieve a quality certificate for the Arab region.

Objective: Quality Insurance of SWH and Services in the Arab Region.

Challenges: overall down trend on quality control (e.g. certification andquality regulations), R&D, mandatory SWH, taxes and trade regulations.

Solar Keymark – European Certification

What?Voluntary third-party certification mark for solar thermal products.

Why? Demonstrating to end-users that a product conforms to the relevant European standardsand fulfils additional requirements.

Where? The Solar Keymark is used in Europe and increasingly recognized worldwide.

European Solar Thermal Industry Federation

The European Solar Thermal IndustryFederation (ESTIF) is the voice of the solarthermal industry, actively promoting theuse of solar thermal technology forrenewable heating and cooling in Europe. With around 80 members from 17European countries, ESTIF represents theentire value chain

ESTIF'S MISSION IS TO ACHIEVE HIGH PRIORITY AND ACCEPTANCE FOR SOLAR THERMAL AS A KEY ELEMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE HEATING AND COOLING IN EUROPE AND, WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, TO WORK FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ALL NECESSARY STEPS TO REALISE THE HIGH POTENTIAL OF SOLAR THERMAL.

16

Recommendations

Creation of a regional association for Solar thermal Industrials:

Level playing field for solar thermal certified products between European and Arab markets

Cooperation with ESTIF toward the professionalization of the Arab solar thermal sector

Cutting down on extra testing and inspection costs through mutual SHAMCI-SK recognition

Facilitate trade barriers and regional collaboration

Promote industrial quality standards compliance
