Basic Background• Guns of all types bought back in East Palo Alto– WHAT IS A GUN BUYBACK?

• Grand total of 400 guns turned in to authorities, in just under 3 hours

• Three police departments (Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and East Palo Alto) teamed up with a local non-profit organization (Protect Our Children, Inc.) to coordinate the event

WHO was involved?• This affects everyone who lives in Palo Alto

and anyone in the surrounding areas.

WHAT exactly happened?• These guns were being bought back because

the owners never legally registered them• The police and city are attempting to make the

city more safe

When?• The gun buyback took place: Sunday, February 23• Gun control debate currently a hot button topic in
