I started at Home Fabrics in 2014 as an Executive Consultant after graduating with my Honours.
Within 3 months I was promoted to Sales Manager supporting & being responsible for a team of 35
National Sales Reps, 3 International Sales Reps, 5 National showrooms, various export markets and
working closely the Sales Director. Within the next month an extra department was added to my
portfolio – Customer Services. I was responsible for not only supporting and managing the entire
sales team of Home Fabrics and the operations surrounding it but also the Customer Services
Department. My responsibilities cover a vast area of sales meetings, interacting daily with
customers, executive daily meetings, generating reports on a weekly basis, constructing incentives
or deals with executives and sales team and developing the business daily with the Sales Director
and CEO. A year later I was further promoted to becoming an Executive of the business, the Sales &
Marketing Executive. The extent of my role within the business is incredibly vast:
Construction of sales strategies that keep the company competitive, innovative, avoid
stagnation and motivate the sales team
Development of goals, projects and priorities and assign them to Sales Managers supporting
them in the successful execution of these
Presentation of the full strategy of the sales plan every month to the Directors and fellow
Executive members
Execution of sales strategies by travelling to wide geographic area holding strategic sales
meetings with the sales teams. Constant motivation and support to the sales team driving
them every day ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to succeed

The company was starting its set up phase and flew me to Mauritius to compile the first draft of
OBPA’s Marketing Plan. I carefully studied the target market and how we would successfully execute
reaching them keeping in mind the business model of OBP and the challenges/advantages faced
with the target market. The products and solutions of SAP was a completely new product that I had
no knowledge of until I took on the project. The deadline of producing the Marketing Plan was 3
weeks and the company’s feedback was that I delivered a result that truly exceeded their
expectations. It was an incredible project to work on and I felt so proud to have been a part of it and
add strategic and marketing value.

and enjoyed every minute of it!

The University I attended in Greece required the students to have a 5 month industry placement in
each academic year, whereby I chose both of mine in South Africa. At both companies I initially
started organising events, which then progressed to pitching to companies and clients to manage
their events. Eventually in both companies I managed entire events independently by the last 2
months of my placement. Both companies approached me with formal offers to become a
permanent member of their team which I turned down to pursue a career in the business world and
to focus my 100% attention on studying to attain an Honours in Bachelor of Commerce.
