London Azure User Group: http://www.lwaug.net/
The tip of the month was presented by Becca Martin and John Mitchell, a was a fantastic presentation showing how to run an Agile project in Azure, test first with CI and good practice. Becca commented that several people had wrongly assumed that Agile and Azure were strange bedfellows. They’re not! The full talk will be given at a conference we’re running in May/June. Definitely not one to miss!
Manchester Azure User group: http://www.shapingcloud.com/blog/2012/4/5/manchester-windows-azure-user-group-first-meeting/
Next to speak was Becca Martin and John Mitchell form Blush Packages, who gave a fantastically slick demo of how you can follow the Agile Manifesto when building Azure applications. They introduced some tools I hadn’t heard of before such as StoryQ, Watin and Mingle and the whole thing left me really enthused about implementin some of their processes into our own development approach.
“Rebecca is brimming with energy which is played out in an unparalleled desire to mentor more junior developers beyond the mandate of her job. She is without doubt a fantastic technologist who brings first rate management and technical experience to any team.” November 28, 2011

Her presentations made an enormous impact on all team members and having such great Azure mentor made this challenging campaign much easier to deal with. I am grateful for her support and motivation, definitely recommend to work with.” November 28, 2011
Sandra Matysiak, Windows Azure Inside Solution Group, CBS Interactive (UK)was with another company when working with Becca at Niche cubed / Microsoft
To whom it may concern.
I have worked with Rebecca for 6 months and in that time I have found her to be knowledgeable and able to explain complicated agile TDD / BDD concepts in terms that are easy to grasp, Also her ability to motivate and empower individuals within her team is literally amazing and as such was able to take a non-agile disenchanted team and make them agile and attacking tasks with a new invigorated zeal driving the team and the project forward.

To whom it may concern:
I’ve been a close working colleague and friend to Rebecca Martin for some time now, who has aided me in the understanding of the best CI and testing mechanisms and methodologies with respect to Windows Azure.
Our company Elastacloud is a Microsoft Partner, at the cutting edge of HPC and Hadoop enablement. We work closely with Microsoft UK and Microsoft Corp to evangelise and teach Azure to ISV’s and our knowledge and intent stretches back to the era of “red dog”.
Becky combines a strong and sensible use of agile with a coherent understanding of Windows Azure. Like us, her practical use of Azure goes back more than two years and as such she, to my mind is a true early adopter.
At N(3) we worked together as two of three Microsoft vetted Azure L400s (the highest professional ranking) to immerse junior staff in Windows Azure. Becky worked tirelessly to develop protocols and example training applications for the first pan-European and US helpdesk. Her problem solving skills are exemplary and she applied a large working body of azure knowledge to answering post-sales support queries which entailed replicating complicated development environments to get to the bottom of customer issues.
She has a fantastic tenacity in getting to the nub of the problem and can white board solutions which will work from the outset which end up being production ready within a few months. She is meticulous in her planning and research before committing a technological solution to a particular architectural response which has stood her in good stead.
Her knowledge of Azure is extremely rounded and she has a high level of experience across the board of the core platform and AppFabric. Her knowledge of CI and Azure is most-likely unmatched in the UK.
Becky is an integral part of our community; a community which she has been part of since its inception. She has spoken regularly on real world working models for our UK Windows Azure Users Group in both London and Manchester and has been a sounding board to answer problems for younger developers who attend meetings. She will be speaking for us again on June 22nd at an international Microsoft sponsored conference, run by our community, on the new TFS Build Service, CI and Azure, sharing the stage with other fantastic first class Microsoft and community speakers from the UK and abroad. On the run up to the conference she will be sharing her experiences with a chapter on CI, Service Management and Autoscaling in an MSDN-serialised book intended for a Microsoft Enterprise Developer audience.
Becky would be the strongest of assets to any team.
Best Regards,
Richard Conway
