Database Design Tables store data and are made up of records A record contains all the information about a person,

company, or item Records are made up of fields A field contains one piece of information for the

record

Records are shown in rows

Fields are shown in columns

Primary Key A field chosen to identify each record in a

table Access does not allow duplicate data to be

stored in the primary key field

on an open table AutoForms include all

the fields in the table Custom forms can be

Adding Fields To add a field to an Access table

Open the table in Design view Right-click the row below

where you want to add a field Choose Insert Rows Enter the field name, data

type, and description Save the table

Deleting Fields To delete a field in an Access table

Open the table in Design view Right-click the field

you want to delete Choose Delete Rows Choose Yes to confirm Save the table

Move to the location for the change Use BACKSPACE or DELETE to delete data Key the new data

Find and Replace can also be used to change data
