… will you use slides to complement your presentation?

Don’t Do This…

• Generally, it’s a best practice not to use the slides as a form of notes.

– We seem to all know this when we listen to presentations.

• But when we present, we tend to forget

• It just feels so secure to have my notes on the PowerPoint so I don’t forget what I am going to say. – How else can I remember what I’ll say?

Don’t Do This…

• Another reason you don’t want to have text is that your audience will tune you out and just read the slides. – Do you do this?

• Also, if you are not in sync with your slides, you may feel “bound” to “cover” what is written on the slide…

• Even if you already discussed it!

» Also, pay attention to the colors that you choose. And check the display of the projector you will be using.

Don’t Do This…

Complement your Presentation… Don’t Duplicate or Distract
