Marines and Associates, I hope everyone is doing well. For those of you who have children and grandchildren, Halloween is around the corner and the kids are wanting to go out and trick or treat. Make sure to keep them safe. See the safety tips below. Happy to all those who were born in October. The one Birthday we all share as Marines is about here. The 240th Marine Birthday is about to take place.

Tickets are limited, if you haven’t reserved your tickets. You can do it in several ways, 1) Mail a check and Marine Corps Ball ticket order form located in this newsletter to the address stated on the form. 2) Call Commandant Garza at 210-551-8855 or email me at alamodet315mcl@gmail.com. 3) Call Felix Conde Jr. (210) 253-9148 or email him at fcondejr@aol.com. Tickets will be available for sale at our monthly meeting this Saturday, October 24, 2015. The 2015 Marine Corps Birthday Ball is schedule for Saturday, November 7th at the El Tropicano Hotel in the Romeo & Julieta Room. Tickets are $50, you have your choice of entrees of beef or chicken. We will have entertainment, Marine Corps Birthday traditions and ceremony will be observed. For more information see the flyer attached to this newsletter. If you missed it, I want to share with you that our Marine brothers from the Alamo Chapter 1st Marine Division Association presented a check for $1,500 dollars to the Alamo Detachment 315 Marine Corps League. In gratitude, we will be taking a photo and present a certificate of Appreciation with the officers at their Chapter meeting on November 14th at the Barn Door. Anyone who wishes to attend may do so. Alamo Detachment Annual Raffle is underway. This year we are raffling off some great prize like a 55” Flat Screen TV and a Masterbuilt Smoker with digital remote control with four separate food compartments- given to us by the Spirit Cookers, Spa d’sante is

Our Marines Helping Marines Program continues. If you wish to help during the ‘Taco Thursday’ Breakfasts being served at 0800, you are more than welcome. Contact Bob Otto for more information. The Alamo Detachment 315 can't continue its mission without your help and participation, please become active in your Detachment. Remember, Marines are Marines forever. Let us not forget that Marines and Corpsmen are still in harm's way. Please keep them and their loved ones in your daily prayers. Last meeting nominations from the floor has provided the following member position: Commandant – Frank Garrett, nomination accepted Sr. Vice Commandant – Tony Montelongo, nomination accepted Jr. Vice Commandant – Joe Chavez, Sgt-at-Arms – no nominations, John Hubble will run again Chaplin – no nominations, Bill Boyal will run again If you wish to nominate a candidate attend the meeting this Saturday at 9am to make your nomination known. Purpose of the Marine Corps League

To preserve the traditions, promote the interest, and perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and, by fitting acts, to preserve the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines. To band those who are serving and those who have been honorably discharged from that service together in fellowship, that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy. To fit its members for the duties of citizenship and to encourage them to serve as citizens as they have served our nation under arms. To hold sacred memory and history of men and women who have given their lives for the nation. To foster love for the principles that they have supported by blood and valor since the founding of the republic. To maintain true allegiance to American institutions. To aid voluntarily and to render assistance to all Marines, uniformed and civilian, as well as to their surviving spouses and orphans.
