The ArQ

ArQ = Advanced Remote Data Acquisition Unit

Wholly designed and developed by ASTI

The “brain” of ASTI's environmental monitoring stations

Trivia: called ArQ because the Ph Government's flagship disaster mitigation project is called NOAH. To create a connection, the datalogger was called ArQ => NOAH + ArQ = Noah 's Ark (biblical story about the great flood)

The Urban Flood Project ● Metro Manila, of special interest because it is a primary business

and residential center, perennially suffers from flooding during rainy seasons

● To date, MMDA identified 183 flood-prone streets in metro manila

● This project aims to provide information for motorists, decision makers, researchers, relevant-government agencies, and the general public about the state of flooding in the streets of metro manila

● By providing timely information, there is timely issuance of warning, better planning, fact-based decision making, and lessen people(complaints) and vehicles stuck in traffic, even lessen damage to property (people will not risk driving vehicle into deep flood)

● Information can be disseminated through LED displays(mmda existing plus project installed displays) located in strategic areas, mobile apps, websites (mmda [existing] or thr project's site), and social media (mmda twitter/ FB account)

● Flood information can be used to evaluate flood control activities/ projects

● The data sets can also be provided for research and academic discourses

Sensor Networks for Agricultural Applications

● Project Objective: develop historical datasets for analysis in relation to climate change and early warning with special focus on the agricultural sector

● How: Establish a network of Agromet stations throughout the Philippines

● How Many: installed 100/100 agromet stations and converted 49/53 existing AWS

● Fund Source: USAID Funded-project in collaboration with DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (Main Proponent)
