DIS v57 Installation Check List

1. Go to Programs -> VMware then from the Toolbar, choose the Help menu, then “About VMware Workstation”, you should see a screen like t his:-

2. Go to the Edit menu on your VMware home screen a nd choose “Virtual Network

Settings”, you should see this:-

3. Choose the Host Virtual Network Mapping tab and you should see this:-

4. Press the > button to the right hand side of the VMware Network Adapter VMNet1 line and choose “Subnet”, you should see this:-

5. Press the red X in the top corner of the Subnet screen to exit, then repeat the

procedure from Step 4 to view settings for VMware N etwork Adapter VMNet8, you should see this:-

6. Exit from this screen by again pressing the red X box, then exit the Virtual Network

Editor screen and verify that your virtual machine displays the following attributes:-

(i) Memory – at least 256Mb (this machine has 512Mb allocated so that DIS runs faster)

(ii) Hard Disk – 18.6 Gb (pre-allocated) (iii) CD-ROM – using an actual physical drive (this one uses Drive D) (iv) 3 “Custom” Ethernet adaptors (v) One processor

7. Disable firewall, antispam and antivirus program s and enable the IFHSrv32 Netserver, then choose “Start the virtual machine”. After DIS loads, left click somewhere in the centre of the home screen, then use the Alt+Ctrl+EN TER keys to maximise the home screen and press the Administration Button. Choose the “Calibrating touch screen” Button and ente r the setup password to access the EasyDIS Configure-matic main menu.

8. Choose Option 7 to access the SCOADMIN NETWORK s creen

9. If correctly configured, you should see 2 Networ k Devices as in the above screenshot –

the uppermost is the SCO TCP/IP loopback driver and should not be touched. The second is the AMD PCNet-PC1 Adapter Compatible – if you are unsure of whether this adapter is working correctly, left click on the des cription line and from the Hardware menu, choose “Remove Network Device” – a couple of di alogue boxes will display asking you to confirm that you wish to remove the A MD PCNet Adapter, choose Yes to confirm removal of the device.

10. Now re-add the AMD PCNet-PC1 adapter compatible by choosing “Add new LAN

Adapter” from the Hardware Menu, your computer will do a search and display a list of available adapters:-

11. Left click on the first adapter on the top of t he list and choose the “Continue” button,

you will be prompted to choose a communication prot ocol, left click on “SCO TCP/IP” and press the ADD button:

12. When this screen displays, the Local Host Name field should be populated with gt1ap,

type the IP address 192.168.68.30 on the next line and the rest of the screen should auto-populate, if not manually enter the NetMask an d Broadcast address settings as per the following screen, then OK and OK again to a dd the adapter:-

13. The screen shown in Step 8 will display, confir ming that you now have a loopback

driver and AMD PCNet-PC1 adapter compatible added t o your system. From the Hardware menu, choose Exit and you will be prompted to rebuild the kernel:-

14. Choose Yes and answer y as you follow the on-sc reen instructions to complete

rebuilding of the kernel. Once the process has bee n completed, you will be returned to the EasyDIS Configure-Matic Main Menu screen shown in Step 7. Now it’s time to check and confirm that DIS actually works!

15. Begin by choosing Option 3. to configure the pr otocol translator, which should be set to Fister as shown here:-

14. If the translator displays as Softing, use Opti on 3. to switch to Fister then once completed, exit back to the EasyDIS Configure-Matic main menu screen using Option 9.

Next choose Option 2. to configure processes – vm s hould be set to not run, nsw set to run and dsm set to run as per the following screens hot, if not, use the menu options to correctly configure the processes, and once you hav e viewed the configuration by using Option 1. to confirm they are correct, choose Optio n 2. to Apply the configuration now, then Option 9. to exit once again back to the EasyD IS Configure-Matic Main Menu.

16. From the EasyDIS Configure-Matic main menu, we must now choose Option 1. to

Configure EDIABAS by firstly using Option 1. To res tart EDIABAS from inside DIS to update our configuration settings. A short script will run, after which you will be prompted to hit the ENTER key to return to the EDIA BAS Configuration menu.

From the EDIABAS Configuration menu, now choose Opt ion 2. PERFORM API TEST to run an APItest, this will confirm that DIS has been correctly configured to communicate with our interface via the virtual network and IFHS rv32 netserver. If all goes well, the following screen should display:-

17. Exit from the APItest menu by choosing 0 Abbruc h (Abort), which will return you to the EDIABAS Configuration Menu. Choose Option 0 (to sh utdown DIS) note that if you choose Option 9 to return to the DIS home screen a t this time, process configuration settings may be lost due to the IFHSrv32 running.

NB: You should only ever shutdown DIS by choosing Option 0 from the EasyDIS Configure-Matic menu as DIS self-updates each time it closes.
