Carl Is Our Marathon Man

Bravo to Carl Jones who completed the London Marathon for Breast Friends.

“This year I managed to secure a ballot place for the Virgin London Marathon. I did four hardmonths of training. On the day it was a very hot in London and the runners and crowds were outin force.

I found it a very tough marathon, as the crowds of runners never seemed to disperse so I found ithard to get into a rhythm, and the heat made it all the more difficult. I have managed to raise £453for Breast Friends” Carl Jones

Well done Carl, and many thanks for the support you and your family have always given to thecharity.

Cockle’s ClimbersA massive thank you to the fantastic ‘Cockle’sClimbers’ who in June, despite horrendous weathermade it to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the highestpeak in England and Wales.

Cockle’s Climbers team members are colleagues &associates of Brookes Stephens, a firm of charteredaccountants based in Lichfield, with a wide range ofages and abilities. They wanted to show support forAmanda Cockle, who bravely underwent treatment forbreast cancer following her diagnosis last year at theage of just 33.

Amanda and the team chose to support BreastFriends in recognition of the invaluablesupport provided to her and other localwomen. Together they raised over£3500 in sponsorship!

“Despite appalling weather conditions andtorrential rain the whole team made it tothe summit of Mount Snowdon where wemanaged to share our elation withAmanda on Facetime.

The climb was physically very tough, we were soakedand very cold, there was zero visibility from the top;but all along we were spurred on by the incrediblesupport and generosity shown to us by everyone whohas donated to Breast Friends. It made every stepworth it.” Leon Stephens

Thank you so much to all the climbers and to all whoso generously donated and supported them. Youhave made Amanda and the Breast Friends charityvery proud...Well done Leon Stephens, JulieStephens, Emily Upton, Mark Griffiths, Alison
