“Constant repetition of foundational principles to

increase learning and ability for further study and application.”

Those Who Need Drilling in Bible Basics

• Young congregations and new converts that are lacking. {Titus 1:5}

• Christians who are dull of hearing, asleep, or immature. {Hebrews 5:11,12}

• Christians who are dying spiritually. {Revelation 3:2,3; 1 Corinthians 15:34}

• All who need to remain established in the present truth. {2 Peter 1:12-15}

Basic Training Goals

• Know the Lord– Generations arise who do not know the

Lord—Judges 2:10.– They lack basic knowledge about God

and His will—Deuteronomy 7:9.• Lack of teaching—Ezekiel 34:1-5• Rejecting God’s word—Hosea 4:1-6

– Knowing the Lord is knowing the things He revealed.• OT—John 1:10; 5:39, 46,47• NT—John 16:13-16; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14

Basic Training Goals

• Obey the Lord– If one truly knows the Lord, he will

obey the Lord’s will— John 16:2,3;Matthew 7:21.

– When one learns Christ, he will be a new man who is righteous and truly holy.•2 Corinthians 5:17•Ephesians 4:17-24•Colossians 3:5-10

Basic Training Goals

•Avoid Error– Mature knowledge of Christ

protects us from the trickery of men— Ephesians 4:13,14

– Strong faith builds endurance— 2 Peter 1:5-11

– To be forewarned is to be forearmed— 2 Peter 3:14-18

Basic Training Principles

• Kingdom—God’s Sovereign Rule• Truth—Absolute and Complete• Authority—How Established and Applied• Covenant—Law Relationship in Christ• Salvation—Promise, Grace, Faith, and

Obedience• Church—Prophecy, Establishment,

Nature, and Work

Basic Training Principles

• Worship and Fellowship—In spirit and truth; abiding together in truth

• Living Soberly, Righteously and Godly—Walking worthy of our calling

• **Ignorance or rejection of these foundational principles has been at the root of many divisions and apostasies among religious people.**

Knowing the Lord

• “Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the LORD.” {Jeremiah 9:23,24}

Knowing the Lord

• “Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD;

and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall

return to Me with their whole heart.”

{Jeremiah 24:7}

Knowing the Lord

• “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord

is.” Ephesians 5:17 Drilling Bible basics will keep us

knowledgeable of the will of the Lord and faithful to it, if…we listen and learn with open ears and hearts to know the Lord!
