• Experienced teacher, coach, senior executive, education consultant & writer.

• Significant experience in the development & management of major curriculum, assessment, research,

professional development & community projects.

Background and context for decision

• NT-wide data – attrition of Year 6 students from the government school sector to non-government school sector at Year 7

• Several non-government school commenced operating in Palmerston

• Modest growth in student numbers at Rosebery Middle School & Palmerston Senior College

• School review areas for improvement: consistent teaching frameworks, aligned & expand subject offerings, consistent policies & growing a sense of community

• NT review into middle years of schooling (2014)

Consultation & engagement to dateSince August 2016, consultation has been undertaken including the commencement of expert sub-committees meeting regularly to determine key operational elements for the dual campus college model.

Next steps

» In 2017, Chief Executive, Department of Education requests the Minister to formally gazette the dual campus college to commence from Term 1, 2018.

» This process is a legislative requirement under the Northern Territory Education Act (2015).
