Sept:● Meridian Waste is proud to continue to be your environmental services provider. Enhanced dual-stream recycling in Troy begins on December 9 utilizing
a second recycling cart for your Fiber materials. The deadline to opt-in, or opt-out, of the FIBER cart is November 15. There is no fee for the addition of the Fiber cart. Please visit this link to choose the option to best suit your needs: Pick My Cart. By opting-in, you will now have two recycling carts. Your RIGIDS for Aluminum, tin & steel cans, clear, colorful (non-black) plastics #1, 2, 3, 5 & 7. And FIBER for cardboard and mixed paper. FIBER carts will be delivered November 25 - December 7.
● Why two recycling carts? Keeping the streams of recycling clean ensures a greater amount of items actually get recycled. All items have to be clean of trash and food debris or it contaminates everything down to the machinery used in the recycling process. When it doubt, throw it out!

● Why can’t we recycle glass? When the glass is commingled with other materials in the recycling process, broken glass shards can result in contamination and safety concerns. Another consideration is that fewer and fewer glass containers are being purchased as consumers shift to plastic. You can reuse your glass containers at home, or drop them off at the Winfield Transfer Station.
