INTRODUCTION

IC NE 555 TimerLM 7909VILLARD CASCADERESISTORSCAPACITORS9V BATTERY

COMPONENTS

The 555 works on three different modes depending on the

type of connections made at pins in IC. They are: Astable, Monostable and Bistable mode of operations.

In the present circuit “Astable” mode of operation is used and produces around 100KHz

frequency.

IC NE 555 TIMER

IC 7909 is a fixed negative voltage regulator integrated circuit which is widely used in electronic circuits. 12V are being supplied on the input side of 7909 but the output side of 7909 is outputting regulated -9V. As long as the input voltage remains below -9V, output voltage of 7909 will remain smooth and regulated.

VILLARD CASCADE

Villard cascade also known as voltage multiplier is used as a voltage booster. The boosted voltage is made ripple free.

The combination of capacitors (C3, C4, C5, C6) and diodes (D1, D2, D3, D4) forms the villard cascade whose output is made ripple free and fed to the negative voltage regulator IC 7909.
