The modern business
world is fast-paced and
competitive. Many bases
must be covered when
trying to get established
in your niche. You’ve
researched your niche
and learned everything
you possibly can about it.
The Business World is
Fast-Paced
Understanding Authority
You’ve carefully built your
website and optimized it
for search engines and for
both PC and mobile users.
You have followers at
social media sites. What
else can you do to possibly
stand-out from your
competition? The answer
may lie in becoming a
media authority within
your niche.
2
Authority Marketing
Authority marketing is the
process of becoming
established as a leader or
recognized expert within
your niche. It is all about
leveraging your knowledge
and expertise to position
yourself as a recognized
authority in the marketplace
(Palmer, J., 2013, December
16).
3
The internet is the perfect
venue for establishing your
expert status because of the
vastness of its size and the
extent of its reach: Its
audience is the world. You can
establish your online authority
by doing careful research in
your niche, by continually
engaging your audience, by
distributing high-value
content, by properly
leveraging social media
platforms, and by committing
yourself to growth as a leader
within your field (Palmer, J.,
2013, December 16).
4
Becoming an authority is
accomplished by giving
valuable information to
your online audience that
addresses their needs. As
you do this, your audience
grows because you are
providing better
information than your
competition is (Palmer, J.,
2013, December 16).
5
Taking Your Authority a Step
Further
You can boost your authority
marketing to new heights by
becoming a Media Authority.
Becoming a Media Authority
encompasses using the power
and influence on consumers
that can be provided by major
television or news networks,
or social media networks.
What would it be worth to be
seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, or
FOX?
6
Or, even on a prominent social
media website? Once you have
been cited on a major media
venue, you will be able to put “As
seen on _____” notations on your
website, along with the logo of the
media outlet(s) you have been
cited on (Kundahl, E., 2014, March
13). Becoming a cited authority in
your field earns you the right to be
quoted as an expert and authority
in your marketing endeavors.
Being able to say "As seen
on______" while presenting major,
media logos puts you ahead of the
competition. The value of that
exposure is incalculable (Kundahl,
E., 2014, March 13).

What Media Citations
Can Do for You
Once cited on major media
networks, you can use their
logos on your website, social
media profiles, newsletters,
business cards, or other places
where you or your enterprise
are marketed. Being cited on
major media networks gives
you more authority in the eyes
of your potential customers,

authority in your niche might
also provide opportunity for

Become a “Top
Recommended Professional”

can get fast exposure and reach
more clients as a “top
recommended professional”
within your niche. By becoming
a cited, trusted authority in
your area of expertise, more
people are likely to choose you.
The media coverage will make
you look more legitimate
compared to your competition,
and you will get more exposure
to potential clients than you
might otherwise have without it
(Kundahl, E., 2014, March 13).
