The Energy Development in Island Nations June 2012 conference was held in the Bjerget House overlooking

Christiansted Harbor

Adam Warren of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory organized the event

Some of those taking part in discussions were from left; Sen. Craig Barshinger, Hugo Hodge of WAPA, and Kimberly McCullom of Quality Electric Supply.

FULL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Ilene Gardner of UVI-CELL talked of the importance of public education in getting residents to understand the importance of conservation and alternative energy.

NREL Wind expert Ian Boring Gould spoke; St. Croix resident Steffen Larsen responded as did Paul Chakroff of the St. Croix Environmental Association.

Cassandra Dunn of the Water Power Authority added spice to the event with her presentation on VIenergizing. She also presented a video made in conjunction with the Energy Office highlighting the successful programs of the last year.

For most of the event all chairs were taken, 75 people registered.

The Virgin Islands Energy Office did the local organizing of the event. To the far right is Energy Office Director Karl Knight and in the foreground is Energy Office Grants Program Coordinator Miguel Quinones.

Energy discussions were going on inside the room as well as outside it.

After the EDIN event, Quality Electric Supply hosted a press conference featuring energy conservation work done at the Bjerget House using a program funded by the VI Energy Office.
