Without light, there is no photography. Our natural light is the sun. It creates wonderful
moods, but its position and colour characteristics are constantly changing, and it often
infuriates us by hiding just when deadlines are looming. That is why artificial light was
invented.
Almost all today’s photographers work with flash light, and agree that light and illumination
are the key to better results. Expert lighting is part of each photographer’s signature, and
has a decisive effect on his or her professional success.
Just like sunlight, broncolor enables a great diversity in the scope of design with its variety
of reflectors, softboxes, area lamps, effect lamps, umbrellas and spots. broncolor power
packs and monoblocs supply the required power.
To complete the product range, the accessory assortment comprises stands and attach-
ments, an infrared and a radio remote control system. broncolor offers even more: most
modern technology, easy to use and compatibility of the equipment – and all at a fair price-
performance ratio.
In this brochure photographers from different countries feature our effect lamps by show-
ing their hands-on examples. You may be surprised at the versatility and extraordinary
capabilities of the broncolor flashlight system.

About this brochure
The following pages present im-
ages taken using broncolor spe-
cial effect lamps; whether they
were used as the main light or as
additional effect lights was not
considered in making the selec-
tion.
Some technical information is also
provided, along with a listing of ac-
cessories for the lamps that were
used.
For a better overview, we have
subdivided the special effect
lamps into the following groups:
• Picolite system
• Spots
• Special reflectors
• Area lamps
• Other effect lamps
PICOLITE SYSTEM
The Picolite small lamp (with inte-
grated reflector) has been de-
signed for still-life and table top
shootings. A very creative illumina-
tion is guaranteed thanks to a sep-
arate accessory assortment and
the use of the broncolor Pulso
adapter, which opens the possibili-
ty to use lighter broncolor light
shapers.
SPOTS
These lamps collimate and project
light through a focusable lens
system (projection lens or fresnel
lens). Shadows are very well-de-
fined or even razor-sharp (Pulso-
Spot 4 with optical snoot). Most
spots allow the work with different
light angles. Highlights of spots
are mostly small or even burned
out. With so-called projector spots,
projection quality and edge grada-
tions are additional selection crite-
ria.
SPECIAL REFLECTORS
broncolor special reflectors are
preferably used as primary lights.
Whereas the large parabolic um-
brellas of the Para FB family pro-
vide unlimited flexibility in terms of
light characteristics, other light
shapers are optimised for specific
tasks. The highly centre-focused
Satellite Staro offers an optimum
light for glamour and fashion pho-
tography: soft enough for beautiful
faces but hard enough to empha-
sise skin and fabric textures. The
Satellite Evolution and the Mini
Satellite put out incredible
amounts of light, and the Pulso
Flooter S offers impressively ho-
mogeneous illumination and a
wide light angle adjustment range.
OTHER EFFECT LAMPS
For every task the perfect light
shaper! The variety of broncolor ef-
fect lamps allows to manage every
particular job situation. Both,
Ringflash C for universal use and
the two optical systems Profil
15/42 and Pulso Spot 4, make
part of this category.
To create an absolutely homoge-
neous light in still-life photography,
broncolor Boxlite and Striplite are
especially favoured.
AREA LAMPS
Area lamps diffuse light. They are
available in numerous sizes and
shapes. These light formers come
in rectangular but also square and
round forms. The way in which the
light is distributed also has an im-
portant influence on reflections
and the reproduction of surfaces.
Smaller area lamps offer advan-
tages in terms of brilliance, colour
saturation and the controllability of
the lighting effect; their only draw-
back is that they cannot always
create a homogeneous reflection
on all curved surfaces. Small area
lamps are ideal for short-range illu-
mination.
With large area lamps the reflec-
tions are expansive, and it is very
easy to determine whether the en-
tire surface is uniformly illuminat-
ed, or whether there is fall off to-
wards the ends. Shadows are very
soft or almost invisible. With elon-
gated area lamps the shadow in
the longitudinal direction is almost
invisible but is quite pronounced in
the transverse direction. In some
circumstances certain surfaces
with very little texture may show
no detail at all.
