Egg Drop Project

Objective:

The objective was to create a design that would

eventually be tested out about the egg and how we

can protect the egg when covered in a cardboard

design. The major problems was figuring out how to

secure the egg and attach the cardboard to each

other.

Background Info

When starting this egg drop project, one of the first things that I did

was try and think of a way to protect the egg most and to secure it in

the best way possible. I went to go research and I found out the egg

was the hardest on the tips. If you would look at my title block for the

egg holder it would have the tip pointing down.

Materials:

● Cardboard

● Egg

● Plastic Bag

Steps:

1) Make the Cardboard design

2) Recreate design on Inventor

3) Create presentation

4) Egg Drop

Ideas

My first idea was to create a box with a parachute. The parachute would help the egg

keep the egg in the air. However, the parachute idea wouldn’t work because a cardboard

parachute wouldn’t be able to hold up. The weight of the egg and the box would still

overpower it. My second one was to wrap the egg in a huge cardboard cushion but I

couldn’t find a way of doing this without tape. My final idea was the one I have right now.

Improvements that can be made

When I finished this project design my product look really messy so for next

time I can improve the shape of the product and the design. The edges could be neater

and so can the cuts. I also could have added a more cushion to the egg because I’m still

nervous about the drop.

Conclusion

This project was really fun and I learned how to create a egg drop project

using cardboard. This project really helped me think outside the box and think creatively

by not using materials like tape and glue.
