How it all started…..
• The first Durga Puja was held in the year 1983. Then it was SARVOJANIN DURGA PUJA at DURGA MANDIR ground, EME.
• Budget was just 19,000/-
• All Pandals and decoration was hand made.
How it all started…..
• In the year 1984, Durga Puja was held at NCC grounds.
• Eastern India Cultural Assocation (EICA) was registered.
• 12 / 2 Navdurga Society: The then residence of founder member Mr. Tapan Sengupta continued to be organization’s official address till the purchase of new club building in the year 1992.

The present building of the organization
Union Gymkhana Grounds, Fatehgunj, Our Former Puja venue. Today’s Saffron Complex.
Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya, Fatehgunj was the venue for Club General Body Meetings, prior to 1992.
The second generation grew up with EICA. It’s stage has been the platform of personality development.

DANCE, DANCE DRAMA’S AND STAGE SHOWS
Tagore’s ‘CHITRANGADA’ was staged in the year 1992. It was also the first ever Tagore based dance drama to be staged on EICA stage. In the succeeding years, ‘SHAPMOCHAN’, ‘CHANDALIKA’, ‘TASER DESH’ and Kalmrigaya’ were staged.

‘Chitrangada’ was staged amidst heavy rains. The programme had to be terminated for few minutes in between. However it was a huge success.

• All ladies drama was staged for the first time in the year, 1998.
• The drama entitled ‘SUBARNA GOLOK’ was directed by Ms. Pabitra Dasgupta.
• Following which several such dramas were conducted under the direction of Ms. Abira Banerjee and Mrs. Pabitra Dasgupta.
