All Chiefs Resolution

Issue of Health & Safety of FN communities is a concern;

Passed January 2010 that urged DIAND to conclude & sign the MOU’s;

Stressed the need to work in collaboration with our network (HC, EC, AANDC, provinces)

Not prepared for water related Emergencies; No backup power; No backup chlorinators; Lack of storage capacity; Fire protection (flow capacity) Fire hydrants in disrepair Draft ERP (testing?) Back up (operator & monitors)

Establish a foundation, for effective and robust all hazards Emergency management planning, mitigation, preparedness, response & recovery that will address both natural and human related hazards and disasters.

Foster linkages and partnerships with key contributors (First Nations, federal/provincial government departments and agencies, municipal/county government representatives and others.)

To develop and ensure a strong Emergency Management & Response planning forum to assist First Nations;

To continue to advocate for funding to support First Nations in emergency management activities which includes the five “pillars” of emergency management (preparedness, prevention;

Prepared four articles featuring fire chiefs and a First Nations community related to emergency preparedness.

2012 Conference on Disaster Management:  Community Resilience Prepare Respond Rebuild

To share the lessons learned regarding First Nations Emergency Preparedness;

To demonstration First Nation’s community resilience in an event of an emergency;

To provide networking opportunities for conference participants working with First Nations in emergency preparedness;

To build relationships with First Nation’s communities and experts in emergency preparedness;
