The building was opened by HM The Queen, and by Her Majesty’s
special permission it is known as ‘The Queen’s Building’ – a unique
honour for a collegiate building in Cambridge or Oxford. When she
declared the building open Her Majesty described it as
“introducing a new design into an ancient setting”

A venue for all occasions
The multi-purpose Queen’s Building, situated in theheart of Cambridge is a venue for all occasions – froma major symposium for up to 150 delegates or aconcert or play in the imposing Auditorium to themore intimate surroundings of the Timmy HeleRoom and the Seminar Room.
The semi-circular Harrods Room at the top of theQueen’s Building is one of the most interestingmeeting rooms in Cambridge with its panoramic vistaof the city to the west and the splendour of theFellows’ Garden to the east.
The Auditorium can be hired on an hourly basis forup to three hours – ideal for shorter events such as anAnnual General Meeting.
All three floors are serviced by a lift and there isInternet connectivity throughout the building. Thereis also an office in the building for the use ofconference organisers.
The adjoining Old Library makes a splendid andcontrasting venue for a refreshment break orconference lunch.
