What is “GO” Training

• General (Safety) Orientation Training • Operator-specific training

• Example: • Chevron HES GO Training

• Formerly 8 hours • Currently 4 hours

• At Westmoreland Community College • “The purpose of these trainings is to raise awareness

and fluency around Chevron’s processes, procedures, standards and tools presented.”

• “All AMBU Employees and Business Partners are expected to successfully complete these trainings…”

First Implementation of Training

• June 23, 2016 Letter from Chevron to its vendors

“Implementation: Beginning in July and moving forward, all new employees who have not already attended the AMBU GO Training will be required to take the Energy Safety Passport training. A separate communication will be sent out at a later (date) regarding a refresher requirement and the grandfathering of AMBU’s GO Training.”

Who Asked For It?

• Shell, Chevron, CONSOL, EQT • Strategic Partners of the Center for Sustainable

Shale Development (CSSD) • A non-profit organization • Mission “…is to support continuous

improvement and innovative practices through performance standards and third-party certification.”

• Initially seems focused on environmental issues

Why This Training?

• Idea: develop one standard General Safety Orientation course accepted by all Operators • One course required instead of one course for

each Operator

• Advantage: ESP training reduces redundant training and associated costs of multiple days of these Operator-specific trainings

• Specific training for the Appalachian Basin

safety information

Energy Safety Passport Training (ESP) • Meet the intent of a site
