Prologue

Every June 5th, on World Environment Day, learned men

and women tell us dreadful stories!

5DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• Stories of how we have destroyed our eco-systemover the years.

• We are left with emotions of sadness and regret.

6DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

However much we try to do our bit for the earth and

our environment, they say, this is still not enough!

7DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• Today, we must change that tradition.

• We should leave here with hope in our hearts andlight in our eyes.

8DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• This presentation is not about the wrongs that wedid!

• It is about the good that we are going to do!

9DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• It is about our plans, our dreams!

• Will you dare to dream with us? or dream bigger?

10DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Come, let us start this journey....

right here,

right now!

11DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Our Journey till today

• Till 1947, Ayurveda served a population of 30million people.

• Today, it serves more than 1.8 billion!

12DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Our Journey till today

• In 2000, Annual global trade of medicinal plants wasworth 60 billion dollars

• In 2050, it is expected to cross 50 trillion dollars.

13DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Can we expect our mother nature to provide us this

much without harming herself?

14DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

If we have to serve more people with natural remedies,

we must conserve, protect and promote nature.

15DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Let us take a look at a few important geographical

treasure houses of medicinal plants in India.

50

An exploding population and a growing

economy is considered as a certain doom for

these fragile ecosystems.

DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Unless we find sustainable solutions for this ever

growing population....

51DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

52

most of these regions would be turned into Concrete jungles..

DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

53

• Jungles where rains will burn people’s skin!!

• Where seeds of death would sprout from its soil!!

• Can we afford that to happen?

DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• Very soon, India is expected to be a globalsuperpower!

• But only in terms of economy and military.

54DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

55

Meanwhile some other countries are moving in a

very different direction!

DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

A small nation such as Iceland is producing 85% of

its energy from renewable sources

56DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Denmark produces nearly 50% of their energy from Wind

57DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Germany today is the world leader in Solar energy

production.

58DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• Soon, nations that cared to protect theirecosystems will survive!

• THE Rest will perish..

• What will we choose?

59DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Let us make a promise to ourselves and the

generations that will follow!

60DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

When we go, we shall leave this place in a better

shape!

61DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

Come together, Protect what is left! Grow where

life has been destroyed!

62DR BIDHAN MAHAJON

• And when you need to adopt eco-friendly materials don’t think about the cost.

• It may prove too costly!

63DR BIDHAN MAHAJON
