Who are Carr Communications?

• Over 40 years in business

• Household brand name for public relations, communications, careers, HR consulting and training & development.

• Developing new services in areas such as behavioural economics and making an impact in a digital world

• Blue chip clients such as;– We never talk about our clients!– We help them talk about themselves – Truth and facts

• Became involved in EU projects about 9 years ago

So what we need is lots of new diverse babies that are protected by the best bits of the bathwater

Our EU Track record

• Have been involved in 38 proposal consortia in diverse range of Work Programmes including:– Manufacturing; Space; Transport;

Security; ICT; Health; Food Security and the Environment

• Coordinated 2 of the 38. Both not funded. Both scored 13.5 out of 15

• Of the 38 proposals 8 were successful and funded – 21% success rate

– Lots of great ideas searching for a call for funding?– Wrong way round

• The Consortium• The Coordinator• The Proposal

– Don’t waste time on bad calls, consortia, proposals, • Planning the proposal

– Drafting, writing, reviewing, thinking, questioning, visuals, budget, editing and proofing

• The Big Decision – Go or No Go

So what we need is lots of new diverse babies that are protected by the best bits of the bathwater

Key Lessons – The Future

• And the Winner is . . . IMPACT• Communication is . . .

– The creation of understanding – Enabling action– That changes behaviour– For the common good

• Dissemination is . . .– A good story well told

• Exploitation is . . . – Continuity of positive change

• Behavioural Science– Economics and Psychology

So what we need is lots of new diverse babies that are protected by the best bits of the bathwater
