Course Description:
This course utilizes a small group construct in which participants proceeded through 6
separate stations over the 6 hour course. These stations consist of problem based learning
scenarios designed to reinforce critical thinking skills necessary to care for an advanced heart
failure patient who is supported by a MCS device.
Each station is 45min in length and will be repeated 6 times throughout the day (including 2
scenarios, each 20min)
6 stations will be in progress in each of the time slots throughout the day in 6 different rooms
allowing for a maximum of 60 participants.
Participants will be assigned to a group of no more than 10 individuals to encourage
participation by attendees. Group interaction and discussion is the basis for success in this
educational experience.
Scenarios will be run by International VAD Coordinator Faculty
