Chosen Animation Studio

Based in the beautiful Laurentian mountains just north of Montreal, Canada, Heliofant is a nascent independent computer animation studio focused on creating experimental and challenging content. Bringing together artists from the fields of dance, music, computer animation and visual arts, the company is very interested in exploring the common ground that underlies many spiritual and philosophical traditions in a lyrical form.

More specifically, I will be looking at the work of director and animator, Louis Lefebvre. Lefebvre has work on animated films such as The Spirits Within and the Final Fantasy adaptation series. The work I will closely be looking at and analysing will be his 2012 animation, I, Pet Goat II. The animated short runs for 7 minutes and contains various sub-texts which I am going to explore through the means of historical contexts and personal interpretation.
