Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

How have you developed your skills and knowledge since you constructed your preliminary task?

I have developed skills on how to create professional design ideas and have developed a great understanding on how magazines are constructed

and designed. I have also learnt skills on how to use program’s such as InDesign and Photoshop. From my Preliminary task, I have developed knowledge about music magazines and how they are constructed to

appeal to its target audience.

InDesign

This program has helped me to design my contents page and double page spread. It was a suitable program to do this as I was able to import text from a word document by converting it to a PDF file then saving it as a Jpeg.

Photoshop

I used this program to create my front cover. This was suitable as I was able to choose various effect and edit my image. For example, I was able to remove the red eye from my main image. Also I was able to use various fonts and designs to make my cover appeal to my target audience.

SlideShare

I used slideshare to upload my PowerPoint presentations on my blog, this was for my blog to look more presentable and professional. This is also a good publishing software to use when it comes to uploading.

To show that I have developed the knowledge of the codes and conventions of magazines, I have compared my preliminary task to my main task. This shows that I have understood the conventions of magazines, this also shows that I have learnt a lot about the conventions as shown in both magazines.

To show that I have understood the conventions of magazine contents pages, I have compared my preliminary task and my main task contents pages. This shows that I have developed a range of skills to make my contents page look professional and appeal to my target audience.
