Erikan Ekefrey : The Abidjan Diaries Camara Demba : Fétiches Contemporains Après plusieurs expositions de l’art contemporain les années passées, la galerie Amani à Abidjan – Zone 4, connue pour ses objets de décoration intérieure de haut niveau – a accueille une exposition des deux artistes contemporains exceptionnels. Le peintre Erikan Ekefrey, né en 1981 à Lagos, Nigeria qui travaille depuis son premier séjour à Abidjan dans le cadre de la BINA en avril 2012 plusieurs mois par an à Abidjan et le sculpteur ivoirien Camara Demba, né en 1970, ont exposé chacun un grand nombre des nouveaux tableaux, respectifs d’objets – « Les Fétiches contemporains ». 20 tableaux sur toile d’Ekefrey, entre 400 x 200 cm et – les plus petits, 140 x 120 cm et 30 objets de Demba – pour la première fois un tel dialogue artistique sur 400 m². Erikan Ekefrey, qui fait ses études dans le Federal College of Studies à Lagos, Nigeria et qui travaille depuis son enfance avec son père, Emmanuel Ekefrey, a décidé de prendre sa propre carrière en main en 2010. Il était invité au BINA (Biennale International des Arts Naïf d’Abidjan) en avril 2012 et était – entre autres - exposé dans le « Affortable Art Fair » en Rome. Ila travaillé depuis novembre 2012 à Abidjan sur une grande série de toiles, dénommée « Abidjan Diaries » - « Les journaux d’Abidjan », la ville dans les yeux d’un peintre nigérian. Camara Demba, né dans une famille des sculpteurs commerce déjà dans les années 2000 à crée un nouveau style unique pour ses objets du bois, enrichi avec les éléments de la récupération, quelque temps plus tard dénommés « Fétiches contemporains » par le collectionneur Jean Pigozzi qui a acquis un grand nombre de ses objets en 2006. Le regard des deux artistes sur leur environnement, leur vie et leur ville, puissants et très colorés. Commissaire d’exposition : Stefan Meisel.
