PTERYGIUM

In Spanish: Ojo Rosado

Symptoms: Redness, pus formation, irritation Bacterial: Spreads to both eyes, thick,

greenish discharge, crusting overnight. Viral: In one eye, excessive watering, common cold symptoms, tender lymph nodes.

Causes: Infection, allergies, external irritants; spreads through contact

Treatment Bacterial: Antibiotic eye drops. Viral: No Treatment. Will clear up from 5

days to 3 weeks Allergies: Anti-histamines

Prevention: Personal hygiene

CONJUNCTIVITIS (PINK EYE)

Fungal: black spores in the ear. Viral: More than one part of the body

is infected. Sore throat, runny nose, fever, muscle aches, nausea, etc.

Causes: Not always associated with ear disease. May be caused by teeth, sinus disease, inflamed tonsils, or infections in the nose and pharynx.

Treatment: Bacterial: antibiotics Fungal: Topical anti-fungal creams Viral: Antiviral medication

Prevention: Personal hygiene

OTALGIA- MIDDLE EAR PAIN

Causes: Inflammation of tonsils caused by viral or bacterial Infection Most common form of tonsillitis in

children is viral.

Treatment: Bacterial: Antibiotics Viral treatment: Must resolve

on its own. Provide medications that ameliorate symptoms

If severe, tonsils may be removed
