Know the Types of Ads

There are 8 different types of Facebook ads. Knowing what each one is most effective for can help you get the most out of your ad budget.

A post engagement ad helps drive people to a specific post on your page to drive likes, comments, and shares. Use these to increase conversation and awareness of your page.

Use a likes campaign when you want to increase your fanbase. Keep in mind that these tend to attract spammers, so be sure your ad is hyper-targeted.

Use a website clicks campaign when you want to drive traffic to a specific page on your website or blog.

Conversion and offer claims campaigns drive a viewer to take an action – like purchasing a product or signing up for an email list. These require advanced set up and access to your site’s HTML code.

Use app install campaigns and app engagement campaigns when you want to increase usage of your Facebook apps.

An event response campaign drives RSVPs to your Facebook event. Use these to increase awareness, and hopefully attendance, of your business’ event.

Include a Call to Action

Including a clear and concise call to action increases the likelihood that the people clicking your ad are part of your target audience.

Optimize Your Images

Make sure any images used in your ads are at least 600x315. This will allow your ad to be shown in the more attractive full size format.

Facebook allows you to upload up to 6 unique images that will be automatically rotated depending on performance. There is no reason not to take advantage.

Keep in mind that Facebook does not allow more than 20% text in ad images. Use the grid tool to ensure your image meets the requirements.
