ART AFTER SCHOOLMONDAY | 3:30 - 5:30 | Room 266January 9 - March 13
We all know how much fun and therapeutic creating art can be! Take time off from work to treat yourself by unleashing your creativity after school. If you are enrolled in an Art Course, bring your ongoing projects and receive one-on-one attention and guidance. Art After School is the perfect time, place and space to experiment with different media. Bring your inspirations to further develop your art or bring your fashion portfolio for college or AP assignment and work in a warm, encouraging environment.
FILM LABTUESDAY | 4:30 - 5:30 | Room 158January 10 - March 14
The film lab is a place where you can work and receive help on your school film projects and get assistance from production students. All types of film equipment – from cameras to sound equipment to editing machines – are available for you to use and train on. Drop in any time and our production students will help you impress your friends and teachers by taking your school project to the next level.
MEET ME AT THE MOVIESWEDNESDAY | 3:30 - 5:30 | Room 158January 11 - March 15
Need a place to unwind after school? Do you like to watch movies for fun? Meet Me At The Movies in Room 158 every Wednesday to watch a different movie each week, hand-picked from Mr. Ochoa’s large collection. With cinematic classics from the past and present, there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. The schedule will be posted around campus each week, so stop in and join the fun!
OPEN MIC/KARAOKETHURSDAY | 3:00 - 5:30 | TheatreJanuary 19 - March 16
Open Mic is a place where you can meet other performing artists and share your talent. It is a forum for performers by performers. Every week, you can bring a performance and showcase it to the other performers in the Prep Theatre. All musicians, actors, dancers, poets, and other performing artists are welcome. Show us what you’ve got!
CHESSMONDAY | 3:00 - 4:30 | Room 162January 9 - March 13
Come challenge your friends to a game of chess! We want everyone to get involved, even if you don’t know the difference between your rooks and bishops or you call your knight “that horsey thing”. Come and have fun with us. Come learn all the rules and the meaning of such chess terms as fork, skewer, en passant, and the Halloween gambit. Or, just come and play your friends and make new ones that share your interest in this fascinating game. Not only is chess fun but playing it has been shown to improve academic performance. If you are looking to be the next Bobby Fischer or just looking to beat your friends with a 4 move checkmate, Prep Plus Chess is for you!.
FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC) MONDAY | 3:30 - 5:30 | Room 26 and FRC OfficeTUESDAY | 3:30 - 5:30 | Room 26, FRC Office and MPRTHURSDAY | 3:30 - 5:30 | Room 26 and FRC OfficeJanuary 9 - March 16
“The varsity sport for the mind,” FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, our team is challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” and hone teamwork skills. We will build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” you can get.
HUSKY SCIENCE CHALLENGEWEDNESDAY | 3:30 - 4:30 | Room 18January 11 - March 15
Do you want to enter science competitions? Come join us competing in student teams to identify an environmental issue that has a global impact and to provide a viable, replicable solution. “As citizens and stewards of our planet, high school students are in a unique position to become active agents of enviornmental change. This challenge provides students the opportunity to express their concerns and exercise their commitment to protecting the envornment. Students can help influence others and make an impact beyond their local community.” The Husky Science Challenge is open to all students.
