Buzz Aldrin

• Buzz Aldrins birth name is Edward Aldrin.

• Buzz Aldrin was born in Montclair, New Jersey on January 20, 1930.

• Buzz was educated at a military Academy at West Point and graduated with mechanical engineering.

• After school, Buzz worked in the air force.• After the air force, Buzz got a doctorate in

science.• In 1963, Buzz was selected by NASA and was

nicknamed Dr. Rendezvous.• In 1966 on the Gemini 12, Buzz preformed the

first successful spacewalk.

• On July 20, 1969, Buzz and Neil Armstrong Made their historic Apollo 11 moonwalk becoming the first two people to set foot on another world.

• When Buzz returned from Apollo 11, Buzz got the Presidential medal of freedom and 23 other awards from other countries.

• Since returning from Apollo 11, Buzz kept foot on earth and continued leadership in human space exploration.

Neil Armstrong

• Neil Alden Armstrong was born on August 5,1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

• From 1949 to 1952, Armstrong was a naval aviator.

Harvard Business School in 1971.• Apollo 13: Lovell, John L. Swigert, Jr., and Fred W.

Haise, Jr. flew on the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission from April 11-17, 1970. On this 5-day, 22.9-hour trip

John Glenn

• John Glenn was born in Cambridge, Ohio, on July 18, 1921.

• He graduated from New Concord High School and attended Muskingum College. Shortly after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.

• On February 20, 1962, atop an Atlas rocket, he rode into space and piloted the Friendship 7 spacecraft around the globe three times, becoming the first American to orbit the earth.

• While he continued to serve as an advisor to NASA until 1964, his interests increasingly turned to public affairs

Eugene Cernan

• Eugene Cernan was one of the fourteen astronauts selected by NASA in October 1963.

• During this 3-day flight which began on June 3, 1966, the spacecraft achieved a circular orbit of 161 statute miles. The crew used three different techniques to effect rendezvous with the previously launched Augmented Target Docking Adopters.

• He was the second American to walk in space.
