[ PPHILIP HILIP TTREACY REACY ]

Philip Treacy OBE is a British milliner. Philip Treacy has had the career that most could dream of. His big break and call to fame would be when Isabella Blow called Philip and asked him to make appropriate head dress for her medieval theme wedding while he was still in school. In 1990, he graduated from the Royal College with first class honors and set up a workshop in the basement of Isabelle and Detmar Blow's home. The late Isabella Blow, style editor of Tatler, helped Treacy launch himself as a well-known milliner and wore many of his hats. At age 23 he was summoned to Paris to meet Karl Lagerfeld. Issie walked into the house behind him and said: "We'd like some tea please." From that moment on Philip went on to design hats for Lagerfeld at Chanel for ten years. Philip won his first British Fashion Council award as British Accessory Designer of the year that year. From there he went on to design hats for the likes of Alexander McQueen's white Haute Couture Collection at Givenchy in Paris, Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan. He was awarded the title of British Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards on five occasions during the early 1990's. "As a small child, I loved to watch the weddings there. They were the equivalent of fashion shows to me. The dresses that people wore, I couldn't believe them, and they were incredible. It seemed so glamorous to see these creatures appear in these extraordinary clothes, as we didn't have much glamour where I came from." Philip recalls memories of living with his parents, seven brothers and his one sister across the road from the village church. From an early age he found inspiration and started sewing at the age of five He was awarded an honorary OBE for services to the British fashion industry by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at a ceremony in Clarence House on November 19th, 2007. He has designed hats for various films including some of the Harry Potter films, as well as the infamous hat Sarah Jessica Parker wore for the film premier of Sex and the City. Treacy's hats were worn at the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton including fascinators worn by Princess Beatrice of York.
