SYMPTOMS OF FAULTY FUEL PUMP

Where is It

It is an integral element present in opposite end of the car engine.

Types of fuel pump

Mechanical fuel pumpElectric fuel pump

Responsibility

It Pumps fuel from the tank to engine.

Ultimately make the engine to run.

Mechanical Fuel Pump

It operates through the rotation of engine.

It resembles with a diaphragm that creates low pressure and transports the fuel from tank.

Electric Fuel

Pump

It is located in the gas tank to deliver fuel to the engine.

It sprays a fine mist of fuel inside the engine chamber.

It creates proper amount of pressure to deliver the right amount of fuel.

Symptoms Of A Faulty

Pump

Sputtering sound from

engine

Loss Of Power while accelerating

Loss Of Power while under stress

Surging Engine Won’t Start

Sputtering Sound From

Engine

While driving a vehicle in consistent speed the engine starts jerking or creates some sputtering sound.

How It Happens?

It may happen due to disturbance in Gasoline flow.

Loss in pressure causes the engine to sputter.

Loss Of Power While Accelerating

Sudden loss of power while increasing the speed or vehicle moving on.

Why It Happens?

While increasing speed engine requires more amount of fuel .

The hydrocarbons in Gasoline clog the fuel injector disturbing the free flow of fuel.

Loss Of Power When

Vehicle Under Stress

When moving the vehicle forward or backward it needs more force & pressure. But suddenly vehicle loose power means it may be due to the culprit fuel pump.

Surging

Sudden increase in speed while vehicle going in a consistent speed.

You may feel like the gas pedal depressed.

What does it mean?

This may happen due to the normal wear & tear in fuel pump.

When pump can not draw enough electricity to maintain the pressure this situation arises.

Engine Won’t Start

Basically the engine will rev but won’t start.

Means fuel not reaching the engine upon ignition.

How to check?

Check for a blown fuse and pressure in the fuel line.

It must be 0.
