scholastic track and field starwho received numerous na-tional honors. Chanelle Price isa sophomore at the Universityof Tennessee.
“I honestly could care less,”Domenique Price said of thelack of attention over the years.“I’m pretty laid-back, not therah-rah type. I like to let myplay speak for itself.
“I’m happy with where I’mat. As far as my sister, I’m justreally proud of her.”
Actually, Price has had tostep out of his comfort level andtake on a verbal leadership role.
Bloomsburg coach DannyHale switched Price from cor-nerback to safety before lastseason. Not only was it a changein physical responsibilities, itwas also a change emotionally.
“Probably the biggest thing,”Price said, “is now I’m the onecommunicating the calls to ourdefensive backs. As a corner-back, I waited to hear from thesafety. Now it’s up to me tomake sure everyone is in theright spot. I’ve enjoyed it.”
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder isone of the Huskies’ most pro-ductive defenders. Price has 20tackles, including two for a loss, one interception and nine passbreakups.
Bloomsburg, which isranked No. 5 nationally, allowsjust 10 points per game on de-fense.
“Domenique is having agreat season,” said Hale, theHuskies’ longtime successfulcoach. “He’s an intelligent guyboth on and off the footballfield. He played corner in hisearly years here but he’s
worked hard in the weightroom and has evolved into asafety.”
“I’m very happy with my de-cision to come to Bloomsburg,”said Price, a business manage-ment major. “I graduate in De-cember and football-wise, Idon’t think people realize howcompetitive our conference is.And I made a lot of friends who
I’ll be close with for the rest ofmy life.”
Many of his family membersand other friends plan to makethe 40-minute trip to EastStroudsburg on Saturday.
For Price, it will be a home-coming of sorts.
“A few family members whohaven’t seen him play in college,we’re gathering them all up andtaking them,” said YolandaPrice, who travels to all of herson’s games along with hus-band Harry.
“Some are from central(New) Jersey and a couple arehis younger cousins who playPop Warner football and lookup to him. It’s been a great sea-son and Saturday should be agood day.”
Steve Shiffert ain’t attend-ing any Varsity ‘E’ extravagan-zas this season cause S-squared says “Motor Mouth”Myers, who speaks loudly butcarries a little stick, insultedeveryone.
At an unbelievably enter-taining meeting months ago,“Motor Mouth” Myers saidsternly to start this showdown:“I get embarrassed to see I cango to other school districts andI can walk on the football fieldand see lots of different ethnicpeople, and I can look at oursand they are as white as youcan get.”
So Steve Shiffert said inWednesday’s superb story:“(Kerry Myers) voted down aperson we recommended forcoaching because he said we’dshow favoritism if we hired aparent. Yet we’re hiring hisbrother as a coach.”
(The big, bad board is ex-pected to vehemently voteOct. 15 on whether to appoint“Neon” Dion Myers as an as-sistant girls b-ball coach.)
“Motor Mouth” Myers’ rad-ical rebuttal to Steve Shiffert:“To attack my family is wayout of bounds. It just showshow low (Shiffert) will go totake care of his friends. He hascrossed a line.”
Ha! Ha! Ha!The Bald Baron’s belief is
truthfully this ...... Steve Shiffert and “Mo-

Steve “The Trap” Shiffertshould hire honkies if they’rethe more qualified candidates.
