We’ll dedicate our new Sanctuary during both services this Sunday, February 2. A celebration lunch will follow at 12:15p in the new cafeteria and gymnasium, both on the lower level. We are expecting a large group, so Crabapple Elementary is allowing us to use their parking lot. Several golf carts will be shuttling between Crabapple and St. Paul as well as between upstairs and downstairs. If you are able, please consider parking at Crabapple to free up parking spots for visitors who might not be familiar with our campus. Any questions? The Principal Call Committee has, to date, sorted through thousands of Lutheran educators in an online database, read through the information of dozens of candi-dates, interviewed five principals, and is setting up on-site visits and interviews with two individuals. We’re thankful for the many hours they’ve invested so far. Please continue to pray for the whole process as we anticipate what great blessings God has in store for St. Paul!

Some Sanctuary design notes: What a joy to be able to dedicate and worship in our new sanctuary today! You no doubt notice that total completion of the project will continue for a couple weeks. Next, the contractor will receive our “punch list”, ensuring every detail is fully as it should be. Here are a few specifics which may be of interest:

• Our cross is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Using multiple mediums: wood, stone, glass, and iron are incorporated into its design.

• The chancel furniture is custom made with a wood and stain to match the cross. The candle-holders and stand are polished stainless steel and custom designed.

• The red paraments (colorful cloths on the altar and lectern and pastor stoles) are on loan to us today. New custom designed paraments are on order from Belgium and will begin arriving in a few weeks.

• The organ is a brand-new Allen Organ with two manuals (keyboards), foot pedals, 39 stops, and countless “voices” through the digital interface.

• The chairs were designed to maximize seating while also allowing flexible usage of the room. In the middle section, every other chair has arms to assist worshippers. The side sections are armless to allow for infant carriers or other needs. Storage racks on the chair backs and seats will hold hymnals and connection folders, freeing up seating.

• Behind the front walls are two rooms. One room is a sacristy for our Altar Guild. The other is a storeroom for access to utilities and storing equipment.

• We will have months (maybe years) of growing into the room’s technology: the digital soundboard facilitates clear music and speaking, every single light on the ceil-ing is energy efficient LED and can all be individually controlled for both brightness and an endless array of colors, a camera from the back of the room will allow us to record or livestream events.

• Acoustic treatments have been applied throughout the room to minimize the sound challenges of a rectangular space. These include the hanging sound “clouds,” foam insulation sprayed on the ceiling, and angles incorporated into the wall design.

• To maximize efficiency and comfort, the HVAC ducts were brought down from the ceiling to surround the seating area of the room.

• A cry room, to assist parents and nursing mothers, is just outside the sanctuary doors with a large window into the worship space.

Giving Statements and Envelope Update. Year end giving state-ments will be available this weekend in the new multi-purpose room (by Pastor offices). Next weekend we’ll concentrate on distributing the rest.

For those receiving weekly offering envelopes by mail: you’re right, February enve-lopes were never delivered. Our supplier just informed us they will no longer provide this service or honor our order for 2020. For the remainder of this year, we will be returning to traditional boxes of envelopes. These will also be ready for pick up this weekend. Of course, you may always make a donation without an official offering envelope. Be certain to include your name and the designation of your gift.
