LIFE WITHOUT NEEDLESS FEARS - Don’t let your kids see you as a worrier. Give this gift with laughter. APPRECIATION - Help children acquire a spark of gratitude and enjoy all of life. Give this gift as they go out the door. FAITH - Introduce your children to God, the best friend they’ll ever have. Give this gift by taking them to church every Sunday.
It is forty days of stripping down
to the living essentials;
It is forty days of facing truth
about one’s self-indulgent evasions;
It is forty days of fellowshipping
with Christ in the desert;
It is forty days of rejoicing
in God’s mercy and forgiveness.

You can help with our operating needs by paying your share ($26.55 per member). Simply use the small blue envelope found in the front of your 2013 box of envelopes, include your gift in your regular weekly offering (just mark the per capita amount on

A few years back Matt, our oldest, introduced us to Dave Ramsey. Dave Ramsey is a financial guy who has his own radio show (at one time he was on TV on the Fox Business Channel) where he offers practical, but sometimes tough, financial advice. He also developed what he calls “Financial Peace University,” a video series that takes the participants through various financial steps to help them get their finances in order, or back in order. Dave is Christian, a truth evident in his presentations. During the winter of 2012 Diane and I participated in the 13-week FPU when it was offered at the Methodist Church here in Springboro. We already knew some of the participants through school or community sports programs. We had a great experience with some great people (mostly Methodists!), and came away with some affirmations about how we have done our finances as well as some ways to change our ways. Two people here at CPC have mentioned to me their desire to go through FPU. It has been revamped and is now only 10 weeks long. On Sunday, January 13, I shared that desire and found nine other families are also interested. So, I have contacted Dave Ramsey’s headquarters in Nashville and am waiting to hear back from them. When I get this figured out I’ll try to find a time (probably Monday or Thursday evening) when most can attend and open up for registration. Each class is about 2 hours long and the cost of materials is about $95 per family. The class would not be limited to those who worship at CPC. So, are you ready to take a serious look at your finances, including mortgages, car payments, savings, credit card debt, emergency fund, college and retirement savings, etc.? Be watching for news about a program that could have a great impact upon your life. Blessings!
Ken
