A Sad Farewell
This Friday we bid a sad farewell to Mr Grahame
Bible who has decided to retire after an illustrious
career in Education of 38 years.
Grahame has been a valued member of the Old
Bar PS community since 1991.
Pure mathematics means he has influenced the
lives of at least 500 students within his classrooms.
We are having a ‘Celebration’ afternoon tea @
school this Thursday at 3.15pm in the new library.
Please join us to thank Grahame for the ‘seen and
unseen’ sacrifices he has made to change the lives
of students.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Just to let you know that it is ‘full steam ahead’ for our 2nd attempt at the Annual Athletics Carnival.
THIS THURSDAY 1ST JULY @ OLD BAR SPORTING FIELDS.
STUDENT REPORTS Semester 1 student reports K-6 will be sent home today in a sealed envelope. We hope you find them worthwhile and here are just a few strategies when discussing it with your child.
1. Start from a positive frame of mind. Take a deep breath in a hectic day!!
2. Sit down next to them at the table NOT on the run.
3. Ask your child to tell you what they have read in their report.
4. Get them to tell you about their report. 5. Focus on comments NOT grades. 6. Tell them you are proud of them. 7. Affirm their efforts!!! 8. Exhibit agreement with the school NOT
criticism in front of your child. 9. If you need more clarification then contact the
teacher to meet early next term for a formal discussion.

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is
like wrapping a present and not giving
it.”
William Arthur Ward
Once again I wish to thank staff, parents, students and those beyond our school boundaries for being with us throughout this term’s journey. The sea was not always calm but with a crew like you my role has been easier.
Enjoy the break and be safe, be joyful and be blessed!!
Yours in Public Education,

Soccer
The Big Win!
On the 23/6/10 the girl’s soccer team went to
Wingham to play against Wingham Public. The
game started at 11:30. In the first half Majenta
scored in the first fifty seconds then Amanda
scored a goal. In the second half Jasmine
scored, then Majenta scored two more goals.
The final score was 5-0. The girls had a great
time. Our main positions were; Chantelle was
Goalie, Shannon, Lucy, Zoe W. were fullbacks,
Zoe R, Sarah and Brittney on the wings, Majenta
and Jasmine were the forwards. Thanks to Mr
Darling and parents and our Ref. We played a
great game.

Basketball PSSA
Old Bar started slowly against Gloucester and at
half time the score was 24 to 16. At the start of
the third quarter Old Bar began playing superb
basketball with great defence that stopped
Gloucester from crossing the half way line.
Jacob was outstanding in intercepting the ball
and leading the scoring. At the end of the third
quarter Old Bar had piled on 26 unanswered
points and led 50 to 16. Old Bar continued their
attack in the final quarter and recorded a
fantastic 80 to 18 win. Congratulations to all our
boys but we must try to start playing basketball
from the first quarter and not leave it till the
third. Our point scorers were Jacob (42), Nick
(24), Nathan (8), James (2) and Tristan (4).
It is always a pleasure to watch teams score more
than the ‘magic 50’ in a forty minute game. Let’s
hope we can repeat it.
Basketball School News - Game 1
Old Bar played consistent basketball
in their three team competition to
end the night 30 points for / 27
against. This was a good result as our shooting
percentage was so poor. Olivia made several full
court breaks and rebounded well while Sarah
moved and passed the ball well when in the key.
Thanks to Jarrod for being our extra player. Our
sharp shooters were Nick (16), Nathan (8), Jimmy
(4) and Tristan (2). Let’s try to improve our
percentage next week.
Keep on dribbling........................ Mr D
