Feng Shui Heritage Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of
arranging your environment to bring about positive change, harmony & prosperity
It literally means “wind” & “water”: the forces of seen energy & unseen energy
The guiding principle is toenhance the natural flow of energy, known as Ch’i
Feng Shui Heritage Several methodologies exist, primarily
Compass Feng Shui & Form Feng Shui
Both use the basic layout, the Bagua Map, to identify key areas for enhancement
Both also use the Five Elements to help bring about positive change
Feng Shui Order practices Form Feng Shui, which provides more latitude in correcting or enhancing environmental problem areas
Benefits of Applied Feng Shui Better health
Less stress
Enhanced creativity
More harmonious relationships
Increased abundance
More efficient use of space
Feng Shui Principles Everything is alive Everything is interconnected Everything is constantly changing Our homes & workplaces are living beings that
can support or undermine our success, health & happiness
We share a relationship with every body & every thing
Everyday changes in our bodies, our states of mind, our families, our workplaces & in nature reflect who we are now rather than who we used to be
Energy (Ch’i) Rules! Anything that interrupts the flow of energy
or traps energy is detrimental Clutter (seen or unseen)
Furniture angled across a corner
Broken furniture or equipment
Windows aligned with doorways allows energy to escape before it is beneficial
Long hallways create a super speedway of energy, causing it to shoot by instead of meandering positively
Mapping Out Success The Bagua Map is the guide to identifying
areas for enhancement
Always orient the Bagua standing at the main entrance
The Bagua can be applied to an entire house, an individual room or office & your desktop
If there is an extension to the house, so the outer walls do not form a square or rectangle, some areas of the Bagua may be “outside”, which requires additional Feng Shui attention & enhancement

Designing Your Office Place your desk in the “command” position Sit in the corner farthest from entrance
Face the doorway, but do not align exactly
Sit with your back to a solid wall not a window
Avoid facing a wall or sitting with your back to the doorway (perceived danger)
Use a sturdy desk chair for strong support The best chair has a solid back with a height
that reaches at least your shoulders
Avoid sitting too low in relation to your desk or tabletop
Designing Your Office Add live plants to nurture growth &
prosperity Avoid cactus or sharp-edged plants
Replace dead or dying plants immediately
Replace silk plants every 3 months, if possible, or clean them thoroughly
Add mirrors to stimulate the Ch’i flow Use them strategically to view hidden areas
Avoid placing them across from windows or doorways

Designing Your Cubicle If your back is to the entrance, frame an
8x10 mirror & place it on your desktop so you can see anyone who approaches
Add an odd number of plants if they have enough light to remain healthy (3, 7, 9)
Add a small fountain near the entrance or a picture of a waterfall or swimming fish
Place either your computer or your phone in your wealth area, whichever represents the way you receive or conduct work the most

Five Element Assessment:Fire: Windows/LightingWater: Carpet/anything darkMetal: Walls/chairsEarth: Desktops/any squares/rectanglesWood: Missing/add plants/add blues or greens/add landscape images/add column shapes (add a few items, not necessarily all)
Ch’i (energy) Enhancers: where your eye goes, there too goes the Ch’i•Hang small mirror over work area to allow you see doorway (very critical/set on desktop if necessary)•Hang a faceted crystal in the center of the window (inside room) to bounce the energy in a circle •Mirrors, all shapes, sizes, are good; hang or place anywhere except on the wall that faces windows•Hang small chime at doorway entrance for fun, functionality, and to move Ch’i•Minimize fluorescents where possible; add floor or desk lamps or unscrew every other bulb or replace light sticks with grow lights•Strengthen Career area, add poster or images of direction you want to go or work you want to draw to you•Strengthen W&P, add purples/reds, wealth symbols, plants, small desktop fountain•Strengthen Creativity (C&C), add whimsy

Bagua Map Applied to Desktop To enhance Bagua areas not available for
their intended purpose, layout your desktop Have no more than 9 everyday use objects,
placed strategically according to the Bagua
Feng Shui Ch’i Enhancements Want a promotion? Place a small bright red plant or a red pot in your
Fame & Reputation area
Need more energy & drive during the day? Add a little red: red flowers, a paperweight, etc.
Need help staying focused in general? Add a Metal element (metal, white or circular
shapes, or metal frames) or a peppermint scent
Need more balance in your life? Have a balance of light & dark colors, hard and
soft surfaces, smooth & rough textures
Feng Shui Ch’i Enhancements Want to draw more abundance your way? Place a wind chime or mobile in your Wealth
corner to help magnify the money energy
Add a flowering plant to add the vibrant energy associated with success
Hang images of your dreams (car, vacation, etc.) in golden frames
Add the color purple in some form
Remember: Abundance is much more than a paycheck!
Summary Remove clutter & any obstacles to the
natural flow of energy (Ch’i)
Position yourself in a command position or add a mirror to be able to see the doorway
Find ways to enhance areas in your environment that don’t match the Bagua or that you wish to improve upon
Find a balance between the Yin & Yang and ad all five elements: Earth, Metal, Water, Wood & Fire
Ancient Chinese ProverbWhere there is light in the soul,There is beauty in the person;
Where there is beauty in the person,There is harmony in the home;
Where there is harmony in the home,There is honor in the nation,
Where there is honor in the nation,There is peace in the world.
