FDM – DatabaseThe Finit Solutions SeriesThe Finit Solutions Series
FDM stores all data and maps in its database tablestables Therefore, FDM must always have a proper
h l ( f hconnection to the SQL or Oracle DB (often the DB resides on a separate server; connection is set up
h d ll)with a service account during install). If the connection to the DB is severed (DB ID rights are changed, password is changed, etc.) it will produce a “data access” error.

Because the back‐end of FDM consists of the Folder structure and the DBof the Folder structure and the DB both these items must be copied in order to do a full “back‐up” or i timigration.
If you wish to do a back‐up or migration that does NOT include the gdata you can do an XML back‐up directly from the Workbench. Simply click File / Export Then give the XMLclick File / Export. Then give the XML file a name and then choose the items you want to include:

Purple = Cannot Write – the current user does not have access to load data to the target HFM entity. Verify that you have the correct access to the entity/entities that your location in FDM is/are trying to load data to. Most often an HFM security issue.
Green = Locked Intersection – the Entity/Scenario/Period you are trying to load to in HFM is already locked or has been promoted. FDM is unable to export data to intersections in HFM that have already been locked or promoted.

There are two possible ways to fix database corruption p y pin the maps:
1. Go into the tDataMap table and manually find and delete the corrupted items (can be very time consuming)
2. Use some custom scripting to Export the corrupt map(s) into Excel and delete the map from FDM. You can then find the bad entries in the Excel File and load it back inExcel File and load it back in
